The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon’s consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers’ compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombudsmen to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the Workers’ Compensation Division (WCD). WCD administers, regulates, and enforces the laws and administrative rules governing the Oregon workers’ compensation system.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible for remote work full-time, once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. The incumbent may occasionally be asked to work from the office on an as-needed basis.
Here’s what you will do:
As the Communications Coordinator, you will technical and practical expertise in coordination of division information and communications, including print, digital, Web, and other formats, and will gather input for developing or revising publications. You will interact with other members of the Operations Section, other sections within the Workers’ Compensation Division, and the DCBS Communications Section, to develop effective written communications within the division and to the public.

Here’s what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or the Behavioral or Social Sciences or related degree
OR
Three years technical or higher-level experience directly related to the position
Requested Skills :
Experience using the Associated Press Style Book and the Associated Press Writing Style
Highly proficient in creative writing: communications, speech, professional and Web content
Strong skills in editing documents and Web content
Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
