Strong problem-solving and decision-making skill

Job summary
Amazon is seeking a bar-raising Finance/Accounting Project Manager to be a key partner in the Global Finance Operations Accounting & Analysis organization (FOAA). FOAA is a fast-paced group within Amazon where new challenges arise every day. This position will partner with Global Operations and Accounting teams to identify areas of controllership risk, compliance risk, and related financial accounting impact. The ideal candidate is a highly proactive self-starter with a strong technical accounting background, problem solving skills and attention to detail who will take ownership and drive positive change including evaluating projects, streamlining existing operational and accounting processes, controls and metrics. The position will prepare and review Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and Accounting Requirement Documents (ARD); requires strong interpersonal skills and collaboration to communicate with FOAA internal and external stakeholders, and various business units across Amazon to plan project milestones and overall project timelines. This position will also play an important role in promoting systems/process development within the department to ensure ongoing efficiency, process improvement, and improvements in the control environment. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to innovate systems and processes that exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, primarily driving innovation on behalf of our customers.

Responsibilities include:
Working closely with the accounting and finance teams to evaluate monthly results.
Facilitate financial review meetings with executive leadership, including design and review of internal financial reports.
Highlighting accounting improvement opportunities on specific processes and accounts and partnering with operations and accounting teams to implement these.
Coordinating with operations and accounting teams in Europe, Asia and other locations and collaborating directly to ensure strong communication, reporting, and best practices are identified, implemented and followed.
Influencing business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data driven analysis and presentation of alternatives.
Working closely with the projects and business teams, provide comprehensive accounting requirements and ensure engagement for a successful project launch.
Effectively maintaining communication with internal and external business partners.
Communicate to functional process owners’ new projects and explain impacts to current processes.
Represent FOAA in cross functional team’s project meetings.
Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and operating as intended.
Resolve complex accounting issues and implement process controls.
Drive systems and process improvements required to enhance controls and quality of reconciliations and related processes.
Maintain regular communications and metrics reporting to FOAA leadership.

Retail industry experience
Experience using Oracle Financial Applications
Strong analytical and data gathering skills (SQL skills highly desired)
