Job Description : TE Connectivity’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams support mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows-based servers. This includes installation, configuration, ongoing maintenance, and backup/recovery of physical and virtual servers. They monitor servers for performance and availability and work with customers and vendors to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. TE’s IT Software and Systems Administration Teams analyze application requirements and recommend appropriate hardware configuration to meet requirements, install, configure, upgrade, monitor, troubleshoot technical systems software such as middleware, portal, e-mail, collaboration, unified communications, systems monitoring, trouble ticketing, software distribution, etc. They also evaluate new products, upgrade features, and recommend toolset selection.

Business Unit Description TEIS GISS

Position Overview: This position is responsible for the day-to-day operational support and management of server infrastructure monitoring and automation across TE globally. The individual in this role is involved in both ‘business as usual’ support activity as well as the support of project implementations. Key objectives in this role are standardization, simplification, and consolidation of the environment all while delivering on scalability.

Developing standards and strategy for monitoring system(s)Managing monitoring environmentProviding insight and guidance to other team members to build, implement, and optimize alertingOpportunity to build and grow a new global monitoring team and influence technology growth in a global organizationWorking in a collaborative environment, demonstrating effective oral, written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders and technical personnel.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Generally requires bachelor’s degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 6+ years of experience; Master’s degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferredHands-on experience with SolarWinds SAM (Application Monitoring) preferredStrong technical lead that contributes to the design, implementation, and maintenance of monitoring systems that will monitor Infrastructure, networking, and ApplicationsMust have a deep understanding of system and application performance tuningStrong Knowledge of Network, Server, Storage, and Backup infrastructure componentsCross-platform knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Unix preferredStrong understanding of TCP/IP networking, data traffic flows, security segmentation controls, and network services (DNS, NTP, etc.)Experience with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, and Python a plusKnowledge of integration of 3rd party tools with SolarWinds, or similar monitoring platforms via REST and other methodsProviding leadership and guidance to junior membersWork closely with other technology teams including application development, IT infrastructure, and network engineering to resolve problems using monitoring toolsEngineer monitoring solutions operations, policies, and procedures to drive proactive alerts and notificationsWorking/Leading in a Global TeamExcellent communications and collaboration
