Job Description : The Family Resource Center is seeking an Our Little Village (OLV) Assistant Coordinator. This is a full-time(1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The OLV Assistant Coordinator provides integral coordination and support of the Our Little Village (OLV) short term child care program operated in OLV|Dixon and OLV|Milne. Assisting in the day-to-day operations of these short-term child care centers, this position plays an essential role in in the success of the program and the support of OSU students with children. This position shares the responsibility of actively mentoring 50+ student caregiver employees seeking degrees in HDFS, ECE, or related fields to help in their development/education in the ECE field. The OLV Assistant Coordinator plays an important role in the Family Resource Center (FRC) by ensuring student parent engagement in the various programs and services offered by FRC. In coordinating the above, this position collaborates with multiple internal and external stakeholders to support the holistic success of OSU’s parenting students.
The OLV Assistant Coordinator reports to the OLV and Student Family Coordinator of the Family Resource Center within the Division of Student Affairs. This position is informed by the fields of Early Childhood Education and Human Development and maintains a working knowledge and compliance with the Oregon Child Care Division licensing standards and is knowledgeable about the trends and best practices in the field of early care and education.
Position Duties
60% OUR LITTLE VILLAGE CHILD CARE PROGRAM:
Assist in the administration and coordination of two short term, high quality, developmentally appropriate child care centers for students and employees with children. Support in the recruitment, hiring, and training of 50+ student employee caregivers and in coordination with the OLV and Student Family Coordinator actively mentor student employees. Provide general program support of the OLV centers such as interfacing with families accessing OLV (phone, email, in person), purchasing supplies and materials, communicating with OLV student employees, scheduling meetings, etc. Partnering with the Operations and Programs Coordinator on facility and operational needs of each center. Complete required immunization reporting by working closely with the Benton County Health Department and in communication with families. Creates, manages, and nurtures relationships with both internal and external partnerships in maintaining high quality early care and learning centers that meet or exceed state licensing standards.
30% STUDENT PARENT ENGAGEMENT:
Maintain accessible and supportive presence in the Milne Student Parent Lounge inclusive of managing the Student Parent Clothing Exchange and Backpack Check-Out programs. Manages the MU Family Friendly Lounge and the Student Parent Study Room in the Valley Library and ensures access for students with children. In partnership with the Operations and Programs Coordinator, co-coordinate special events with an eye towards the student parent experience for the following events: Bring Your Kids to Campus Day, Kids Gift Closet, Trick-or-Treat Tour, Summer Camp Fair, National Work & Family Month, Celebrating Campus Children’s Centers. Stays up to date on innovative student parent programming and determines suitability for OSU’s families and assists in new program development. Utilizing FRC’s salesforce instance, assists the OLV and Student Family Coordinator with outreach to potential and incoming students with children. Assist in other student parent recruitment and retention efforts.
5% CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE:
Co-administer annual $275,000 child care assistance fund, per term, for qualifying parenting students. Ensures program compliance, funding determinations, and per term distribution and historical tracking. Coordinates with Office of Financial Aid, Business Affairs
5% OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Minimum/Required Qualifications
BS or BA in Human Development, Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field.Effective verbal and written communication.Experience in an early care and learning environment (birth to five)Experience supervising and mentoring early care providers.A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Experience working with students with children in a post-secondary education setting.Experience with ECE quality assurance and program accreditation.Experience in event planning.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
On-site active engagement in an early care and education context interacting with adults and children including work outdoors. Will include some evening and weekend work.
