Department: Parks and Recreation
Hourly Rate: $13.92
Status: Temporary; Non-exempt

Job Overview:
The Park Attendant works to assist in the routine maintenance and repair of the City of Missoula Parks and Recreation grounds and facilities assigned.

Core duties and responsibilities to include:
Provides basic landscape maintenance and janitorial services to Parks and Recreation facilities.

Trimming, refuse pick up, hand mowing, cleaning of restrooms, edging, weeding, general clean up, painting, minor repairs of park fixtures and simple construction projects.

Cares for one or a group of parks, trails or facilities as directed by the Manager.

Requirement for this job include:
No experience required
Over the age of 18
Valid driver”s license and a verified acceptable driving record

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of lawn care
Knowledge of safe operation of a variety of small power or light duty equipment and hand tools such as power mower, hedge trimmer, weed eater, electric power tools, and assorted gardening implements
Ability to perform simple construction projects, including painting and minor repairs
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of laws, safety requirements, and procedures for working with materials and supplies associated with park and athletic maintenance activities
Ability to work on a team and maintain a positive attitude
Ability to practice safe work habits while in the operation of City of Missoula vehicle(s) and equipment

Special Conditions:
Employee scheduled variable hours per week based solely on department needs
Variable dates available from April/May – September/October
Duties are usually performed outdoors with exposure to sometimes inclement weather
Lifting and moving of equipment and material weighing up to 50 pounds
