We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Global Finance is integral to HSBC’s purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Our global team of finance professionals partner with the business to provide trusted insights and forward looking analysis; accuracy; efficiency and control to frame and influence business decisions.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to work within the Country Finance Chief Operating Office which supports the below responsibilities, in alignment with the goals, objectives and strategy set by the Country CFO, Regional CFO and Regional Finance COO :-
Support operational running of Country Finance function
Delivering change initiatives and driving process excellence
Monitor, analyse & control costs for Finance function
Ensure a robust control framework aligning with approved Governance structure for FIN
This is a Relationship Management position within Finance COO for India to lead all regional / local Finance organizational & transformational changes (such as offshore migration, finance transformation & other structure/ process integration / change initiatives) by engaging/mobilizing multiple local / regional / global senior management stakeholders;
Principal Accountabilities
Impact on the Business / Function
Facilitate change initiatives and assignments (Global Finance and HBAP bank-wide) through coordination of requirements and considerations across all Finance sub functions
Provide advice and contribute to the compliance of the Risk Management Framework (Business Information Risk Officer, TPRO, BCP, DRC, Outsourcing)
Provide advice and ensure Finance compliance to HSBC’s Data Management Framework
Manage & analyse direct costs & headcounts of the Finance departments to realize overall cost efficiency. Detailed review and analysis of cost.
Responsible of all functional financial & people MI reporting for CFO and FIN senior management and provide valuable analysis supplemented with proposed follow-up actions when applicable;
Support COO to collaborate with senior management in devising developmental programs to build a robust, high performing, engaged and mobile Finance culture, strengthening the long-term and continuous succession pipeline. Centralize planning of India Finance staff development programs, such as STA Program, job rotation and etc.

Develop and maintain close working relationships Global/Regional/Country Finance teams and with support teams in India, promoting a ‘one team’ culture
Business partner with the Lines of Businesses/Functions
Apply knowledge and expertise to new business situations and business environments

Provide coaching to team members and assist in staff development
Customers / Stakeholders
Deliver fair outcomes for customers/stakeholders and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of Finance
Build and ensure strong relationships with key stakeholders and team members, adopting a joined up approach, to execute change at pace with minimum conflict
Maintain contact with customers/stakeholders to identify and communicate status, progress, risks and issues
Analyse stakeholder goals and effectively manage their expectations, addressing any misalignment
Manage and negotiate policy decisions and business solutions so that key stakeholders are bought into decisions that optimise effectiveness for HSBC
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Proactively find opportunities to improve and streamline processes with the aim to enhance efficiency
Ensure effective internal processes and operational environment are compliant with external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and group compliance policy
Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any directives raised by external regulators
Major Challenges
Required to be flexible/adaptable to a dynamic, constantly evolving environment and be able to deliver consistent performance – must be comfortable with ambiguity, possess the ability to pick up new tasks and concepts quickly with minimal guidance and be ready/willing to challenge the status quo
Possess strategic thinking with the ability to take a holistic view of the Bank across all Global Businesses and Global Functions, and provide value-added solutions and assistance
The role has multiple internal stakeholders ranging from immediate team to senior stakeholders within the bank – this will mean that the role holder will have to carefully navigate and prioritise agenda that are potentially conflicting in order to drive the best outcomes for Country Finance
Role Context
This role resides with in a team which covers (but not limited to) the below key accountabilities:
Implementation of Global Finance Initiatives within the Country
Implementation Country Finance initiatives/applications to support Finance
Implementation and management of the Country control framework for Finance covering Operational Risk, Business Information Risk and Regulatory Compliance
Management of relationships with key stakeholders and service providers (including external vendors) to Finance
Management of Risk
The role holder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as a bank
This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators
The role holder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the ‘Three Lines of Defence’. The role holder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or a related discipline) with Post Graduate Qualifications highly regarded
Greater than 10 years working experience in Banking / Finance industry
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of excellent stakeholder management, working effectively across teams and problem solving
Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities
Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of seniority, including supervisory and coaching relationships with team members
Ability to bring analytical rigour and structure and effective solutions to poorly-defined problems
Strong communication skills – applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations)
Advanced writing and numerical skills essential as well as an advanced level of skills in Microsoft Office
Self-motivated requiring minimal supervision
Possess knowledge of system/solution maintenance, change and release management, data management
Be able to develop project plans and manage against them, collate regular project status reporting
Demonstrate detailed understanding of financial data flow and processing needs
Be able to identify possible gaps (e.g. potential sources of risk) in financial processing systems
To be adept at monitoring operational risk, ensuring appropriate resolution strategies are in place, and identifying and implementing solutions/processes needed to minimise risks relating to Finance
