Job Description : The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences seeks an Administrative Assistant I, to join the Department of Anthropology/Center for Visual Anthropology. The largest and oldest of the USC schools, USC Dornsife functions as the academic core of the university, offering courses and advancing knowledge across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The Department of Anthropology is searching for an equity-minded, deeply experienced, service-oriented professional to provide administrative support to our internal and external constituents.

Describe specific responsibilities:
Contributing to the advancement of the Department of Anthropology’s mission and strategic initiatives.
Staffing the reception desk and answering phone inquiries; Greeting and assisting customers in department suite.
Multi-tasking numerous administrative duties, including organizing meetings and travel, processing expenses, reimbursements, ordering supplies, shipment of documents/packages, responding to e-mails, notetaking, managing files, photocopying and general office support.
Providing superior customer service.
Handling data entry of confidential data.
Assisting with logistics and catering for virtual and in-person events.
Handling financial transactions and budget management tasks.
Engaging with vendors and independent contractors who perform work on behalf of the department.
Preparing reports and documents for internal and external audiences.
Other duties as assigned by the Chair and Office Manager.
List of Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
Minimum Field of Expertise: Specialized clerical and administrative experience, including strong office software skills. Customer service experience, with demonstrated enthusiasm for providing service to internal and external audiences.
Interest in problem solving and learning new software systems as needed, and readiness perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
List of preferred qualifications:
Work experience: USC work experience preferred. At least 10 years full-time professional work experience.
Extraordinary ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks. Strong oral and written communication skills. Interest in visual aesthetics and graphic design a plus.
Experience using the USC SIS (Student Information System), USC Admissions data systems, and the USC Curriculog system preferred.
Interest in anthropology and social science a plus.
Salary range: $21.37 – $26 per hour DOE
