Job Description Come work at one of the most complex and challenging State Parks in the system! Put your skills to the test, grow, and learn as this park will expose you to every aspect of State Park operations. Jordanelle State Park is a recreation park with activities on land and water. With an 80 slip marina, 4 water access ramps, a 185 site campground, and 22 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails, Jordanelle boasts activities for all walk of life! Principle Duties
Assist with the supervision of 7 full-time employees, directly supervising 3 of those employees, along with the supervision of 45 seasonal employees and volunteers.
Duties entail personnel actions including recruitment, hiring, firing, performance reviews, delegating assignments, corrective actions, etc.
Operate and oversee the Aquatic Invasive Species program including the supervision of a budget and seasonal employees.
Assist and manage with numerous Special Use Permits and events that operate within the park.
Directly manage the parks Boating and Off-Highway Vehicle programs including the Strawberry Grooming complex.
Patrol and perform law enforcement duties throughout the park and the park’s SEOP areas.

Example of Duties
Manages or assists with the management of a state park, recreation areas and/or waterways and park programs or assists a parks program manager with the administration and management of a statewide parks program.
Oversees parks, boating and off-highway program elements and/or manages resources.
Patrols waterways, trails, parks, etc., to enforce applicable State of Utah Laws, rules and regulations.
Supervises or assists with the supervision of subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
Manages or assists with accounting or budget activities.
Provides assistance and interacts with local governmental agencies, private groups/organizations and the public regarding applicable laws and rules and partnerships.
Hosts visitors and provides visitor services.
Typical Qualifications
Preference given to applicants with a Bachelor’s or higher degree in Parks and Recreation Management or a closely related degree, or at least 4 years of professional experience in Park Operations at a State, Federal or comparable park.
Prior experience in law enforcement required.
Must be able to supervise others by assigning/directing work; conducting employee evaluations, staff training and development, taking appropriate disciplinary/corrective actions, and making hiring/termination recommendations.
Candidate must have experience with State purchasing, and budget practices.
Certified Public Manager’s Certificate Experience overseeing Boating operations, Off-highway Vehicle operations and Grooming operations.
Experience using the Utah Performance Management System, PIMs, ESS, and other administrative systems.
A working knowledge and experience in the POS system.
Computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Supplemental Information
Employees are subject to personal risk and safety; perform duties that consist of preventing or detecting crime and enforcing criminal statutes or ordinances of this state or any of its political subdivisions.
Employees in this job work for the Department of Natural Resources, they must be certified through the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy.
Employees must qualify as a “Law Enforcement Officer” in accordance with U.C.A. 53-13-103.
Job requires POST certification; Peace Officer Standards Training in Utah.
Perform duties that consist of providing community protection; and respond to situations involving threats to public safety and make emergency decisions affecting the lives and health of others.
Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, working in remote wilderness areas and/or boating/OHV areas, etc.
Work may require some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough terrain or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities.
In park housing will be available with required on-call.
