Job Description : BACKGROUND
The Chicago Public Education Fund (The Fund) is a nonprofit that supports public schools by investing in the talented educators who lead them. We partner with Chicago Public Schools, the City of Chicago, the local philanthropic community, and school leaders to build and sustain a culture of innovation, a love for learning, and a passion for service to students. For more than two decades, our programs, policy work, and data infrastructure have made a measurable, positive impact in schools and improved outcomes for students.
The person in this role serves on our Engagement and Operations team, which is responsible for supporting and communicating with the people who make our work possible, especially our team and our funders. The team also manages events that engage our diverse and innovative network, including our educators and partners. You are enthusiastic about education and interested in gaining experience in non-profit fundraising, knowledge management, and Chicago Public Schools.
ASSOCIATE, ENGAGEMENT + OPERATIONS
This individual will sit on the Engagement and Operations team and will receive coaching and career support from the Manager of Operations and the Manager of Engagement. This individual will be primarily responsible for four key activities:
Managing and organizing our information on investors and key stakeholders.
Process all investor contact and track next steps using Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accurate weekly entry.
Develop and execute a monthly Document Retention process.
Research potential investors, conference attendees, and potential Board and Leadership Council members to support recruitment.
Tracking and processing donor gifts and drafting thank you letters.
Manage gift processing for the organization, including database entry and thank-you letters, including completing database entry weekly and an average of 3-5 thank-you letters twice per month.
Working closely with The Fund’s Operations Manager to ensure donor gifts are processed accurately.
Engaging internal and external stakeholders by building relationships and executing flawless events.
Demonstrate The Fund’s core values of collaboration, equity, excellence, innovation, integrity, and leadership, centering the needs of educators working in our schools and communities.
Provide tactical support, monthly, for all external events and meetings, including principal events, Board meetings, and Leadership Council meetings.
Maintain organizational calendars for external relationships and events.
Build and maintain relationships with Board members, principals, and partners.
Supporting the team’s technological needs.
Provide day-to-day IT support for the team, which includes spending up to five hours per week trouble-shooting team technology issues.
Complete annual audit of technology, purchase new computers as needed, and partner with our technology vendor to ensure new machines are set up.
Manage relationships with third-party tech vendors, including monitoring weekly compliance with patches and updates; following up as needed.
Maintain an accurate list of all online and software subscriptions, updating at least once per quarter.
Create an annual subscription budget and manage it.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
We seek early-career candidates with a passion for innovation, equity, and excellence in public education. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage self and workload effectively, be flexible and adaptive, and complete tasks assigned with excellence, energy, and on time. Anticipated start date is June 16, 2022.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
Strong verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
Attention to detail, especially as it relates to numbers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Interest in learning more about the Chicago public education landscape.
Ability to manage self and workload effectively, be flexible and adaptive, and follow through on execution.
Ability to learn new software (like Raiser’s Edge).
Strong organizational skills, and ability to work on tight timelines.
COMPENSATION
The salary band for an associate at The Fund starts at $55k and there is room to grow to $79k over time based on a strong ability to regularly exceed expectations and market adjustments. The Fund offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, retirement contribution, generous paid-time-off for all team members, and paid short-term and family leave. Please note that The Fund team is an in-person organization, working in schools and out of our offices in downtown Chicago. We do have a flexible work policy, with at least one work-from-home day per week.
