Legal and Compliance

Legal & Compliance Division (LCD) comprises of Legal, Compliance, Global Financial Crimes and Regulatory Relations.
? The Legal Department provides guidance, requirements and procedures for understanding and complying with the laws, regulations and Firm policies that apply to our businesses.
The Global Compliance Department identifies applicable Compliance Obligations and maintains a Firmwide Compliance Risk management program, including Compliance Risks that transcend business lines, legal entities and jurisdictions of operation.
Global Financial Crimes is responsible for the development and governance of the Firm?s financial crime prevention efforts across all regions and business units. Global Financial Crimes is comprised of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-boycott, Anti-Corruption (ACG), Government, and Political Activities Compliance (GPAC) programs.
The Global Regulatory Relations Group (GRRG) is responsible for strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of Morgan Stanley?s regulators and related developments globally, with a focus on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. GRRG serves as the central point of contact for the regulatory staff responsible for supervisory activities at Morgan Stanley entities and for timely reporting to Firm management and other governance or management bodies, as appropriate, on those relationships and supervisory processes, including areas of significant regulatory focus or concern.

LCD Center of Excellence ? Mumbai (LCD CoE) is a part of Morgan Stanley?s Global In-house Center, which provides global support to LCD and is an integral part of Firm and LCD strategy

Background on the Team

The Volcker Central Office (VCO) oversees Morgan Stanley?s Enhanced Compliance Program, as required under the Volcker Rule. The Volcker Rule, part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, is a multi-agency regulation that covers all of the Firm?s global operations including but not limited to Institutional Securities, Investment Management, Wealth Management, and related control and infrastructure functions. The VCO ensures that the Enhanced Compliance Program is designed, implemented, and enforced in accordance with regulatory requirements, liaises with traders, trading desks, and regulatory agencies, and provides program updates and reporting to the Board and Senior Management.

Primary Responsibilities

The Volcker Central Office Professional is responsible for data analysis and documentation, preparing materials for Business Unit stakeholders and Senior Management, performing periodic monitoring and reconciliations to ensure program effectiveness, and other related tasks in support of the Enhanced Compliance Program. Specific tasks may include:
? Monitor for changes in business activity and organizational structure that may impact trading desk assessments and profiles
? Analyze control reports and processes for timely resolution of exceptions
? Prepare materials for periodic meetings with Business Unit stakeholders and Senior Management, including the annual CEO Attestation
? Track deliverables related to internal and external program reviews
? Perform data analysis and prepare materials in response to requests from internal testing/audit teams and from regulators
? Analyze monthly Volcker metrics data to identify trends, themes, and further enhance supplemental metrics
? Assist in periodic training of Firm employees on the Volcker Rule and Morgan Stanley?s Enhanced Compliance Program
? Provide ad hoc program support, as needed
? Automate manual processes and come up with innovative ideas

QUALIFICATIONS
Skills required (essential)

? 3 years+ working experience, preferably in financial services
? Strong analytical, communication, and project/program management skills
? Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
? Data analysis/reconciliation, monitoring and surveillance, including handling of sensitive data
? Eye for details and ability to highlight anomalies
? Candidates must be self-motivated, independent, responsive, and organized
? Experience in financial services and/or compliance/regulatory risk a plus

Skills desired

? Basic understanding of financial markets is essential
? Has the ability to effectively handle a fast paced environment and successfully meet established deadline requirements
? Ability to research and resolve issues independently while working across teams to acquire information
? Knowledge of or interest in learning regulatory requirements under the Volcker Rule and financial markets and products more broadly
? Proficient with MS Access, SQL/Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Tableau

? Drafting of Policies and Procedures

Coverage

Monday to Friday from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Coverage is dependent on business needs so flexibility on required finish time or full day?s coverage may be required during some Indian holidays
