General Description
Chicago Yachting rents boats to customers in Chicago from 31st Street Harbor. We are seeking an enthusiastic Boat Rental Coordinator to work on-site at the marina and coordinate the preparation, departure and return of our boat rentals to ensure customers receive a high level of customer service and that boat rentals proceed in a safe and timely manner. Coordinators will have the opportunity to gain maritime industry experience and learn about boat systems and boat operation.
Main Accountabilities
Checking the boat systems and condition before and after each rental
Tidying / cleaning boats between rentals
Welcoming rental groups and completing pre-departure documentation
Giving an orientation and pre-departure safety speech to customers
Handling boat lines and assisting the boat away from and back to the dock upon its return
Responding to charter inquiries, coordinating charter documentation, reservation calendar management
Other tasks to support boat rentals as needed
Minimum Qualifications & Behavioral Requirements
Familiarity with mechanical systems, boats and boating is a major plus but training will be provided to successful candidates who are inexperienced in these areas.
Individuals with hospitality or other customer-facing experience are encouraged to apply.
A successful applicant will be comfortable interacting with customers; who is outgoing, and able to communicate effectively and professionally even in challenging situations.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
This position is about 80% outdoor.
Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an outdoor environment.
Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
Schedule & Compensation
30-40 hours of work per week, with more than half of those hours occurring Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Starting at $18/hour plus end of season bonus. Opportunity for advancement.
