Job Description : Business Development Manager – AeroFarms AgX Ltd. (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

With the support of Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the company has established a legal entity in Abu Dhabi to build a state-of the art research and development (R&D) center to create an in country Agri-Tech ecosystem. Job Description Summary:
The Business Development Manager will join an experienced team of specialists working closely with multiple departments to ensure success of long-range goals and strategies. This position is responsible for forging strong relationships with customers, partners, and business associates to develop collaborative research programs in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and to support commercial advancement of Aerofarms in the UAE. This position is based in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and reports to the General Manager of Aerofarms AgX Ltd. in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Responsibilities:
Create new partnerships in alignment with company strategic goals
Understand partners’ priorities and challenges and identify opportunities for AeroFarms
Develop solutions that address these priorities and challenges within AeroFarms’ capabilities and business interests
Translate complex scientific processes into a clear value proposition to clients
Follow business development protocols to develop the opportunity into project, including develop scope, write proposals, determine timelines, and develop budgets; Collaborate with AeroFarms functions to identify risks, define project phases, negotiate IP and budgets, and necessary agreements or contracts.
Close projects with partners
Build a pipeline of projects with potential partners based on shared goals
Build high-value relationships with external innovation teams, R&D leads, procurement managers, investment officers, and other decision-makers within top-tier companies and universities
Identify and prioritize strategic partnership opportunities through a combination of market research, networks, conferences, financial analysis, and a deep understanding of AeroFarms’ technologies
Represent the Strategic Partnerships vision and value proposition
To internal stakeholders, including leadership and across departments
To external stakeholders through conferences and external events
Cultivate market and industry knowledge specific to our UAE business
A good understanding of AeroFarms AgX business goals in the UAE and the ability to communicate with and advise others about them
Coordinate with Marketing Department local promotional strategies and activities to enhance our image and brand in the UAE
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Scientific field is required (Agriculture, horticulture, Biology, Pharmacology, etc…)
An MBA degree in Marketing or Finance is a plus
5 years of experience in BD role is required, scoping projects and leading proposals and budgeting and managing client relationships; and preferably in the UAE market or the wider GCC region
Previous experience in Agriculture and AgriTech, direct experience in CEA is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Arabic) to initiate contact and maintain rapport with business partners
Initiative and drive to seek new business partners and start things from scratch
Highly presentable and equipped with effective interpersonal skills
Teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to work
Decision-making skills and proper business judgement and prioritization
Able to multitask and prioritize the workload
Project management and organizational skills
Powerful negotiation skills
Ability to think strategically
Ability to analyze figures, budgets, and investment financials
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with normal work hours and workdays. evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. International travel might cover 20% of time.
