Job Description : Who we are: Portland Patrol Inc. (PPI) is a Premier Private Security Company originated in 1997 and has been patrolling the streets of Downtown Portland ever since. Patrolling over 213 blocks, we are actively involved in providing customer service and safety throughout the Downtown Business District. PPI has a partnership with TriMet, and recently branched out into the human services as an additional level of community involvement.Purpose of Job: The purpose of the Customer Safety Officer is to provide customer service, safety, and security in and around the TriMet transit system and assist TriMet employees and/or Transit Police with incidents that that may impact ridership safety.Responsibilities: Provide a visible security and safety presence on the transit system and assist TriMet employees and transit ridershipIntervene when observing minor infractions e.g. skateboarding, smoking, drinking in public, etc.De-escalate potential or actual conflicts whenever possible without jeopardizing the safety of officers or bystandersObserve and report on medical emergencies and criminal activity to TriMet DispatchAssist TriMet Fare Inspectors with fare missions on the transit systemReport any suspicious activity, behavior, or items to TriMet DispatchMaintain a clean and professional appearance and friendly demeanorComplete daily activity reports and write comprehensive Incident ReportsOther duties as assignedQualifications: Must be 21yrs of ageHigh school or GED requiredMust have NO felony convictions, sexual or drug related convictions of any degree, or any non-traffic misdemeanors within the last five years.Officers must be skilled in responding to order maintenance type problems i.e., trespassing, panhandling, camping issues, public drinking ad drug use, noise disturbances and offensive littering.Officers must have advanced communication skills including de-escalation and other calming techniques.Officers must have experience in problem solving, risk assessment, and appropriate use of forceSuccessful completion of DPSST armed officer licensing requirementsA willingness to work outdoors throughout the yearA stable work historyAbility to walk or ride a bicycle for 8hrsAbility to work unsupervised for long periods of timePossess communication skills which include understanding, speaking, and writing the English language well.Able to write a report of incidents and activitiesBe a team-oriented personAbility to work with diverse groupGreat customer serviceReport to work on timeStay at assigned work locationsPerform assigned tasks and carry out duties throughout the entire work shiftBe reliable and truthful when reporting either verbally or writtenBenefits: Pay: $25.92On Bus route and MaxMedicalVisionOpportunity for growthFlexible Spending AccountRetirement PlanDPSST TrainingWork closely with Portland police departmentEmployee referral programJob Type: Full-timePay: From $25.92 per hourBenefits:Flexible spending accountHealth insurancePaid time offReferral programRetirement planVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayWeekend availabilityEducation:High school or equivalent (Required)Experience:Corrections: 1 year (Required)Military Police: 1 year (Required)Work Location: Multiple Locations
