Division of Emergency Management- The Division of Emergency Management serves the local emergency management community, state government agencies and the residents of Utah through planning, training, preparedness, mitigation, recovery and response activities. DEM also brings subject matter experts and multiple state agencies together at the State Emergency Operations Center to support and coordinate response and recovery as needed. Starting hourly rate $22.63, may be higher based on experience. Principal duties

Developing, reviewing, and updating emergency plans according to state and federal guidelines and requirements.
Represent the agency with federal, state and local governments, in the media or with private organizations.
Delivers presentations, training, or instructions to staff, management, elected officials or the public.

Requirements

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice.
A degree in Emergency Management, English, Journalism, Communications or Technical Writing is required.

The Best Qualified Candidate

Will have strong skills in writing, planning and problem solving.
Will be organized and competent in managing multiple projects
Will be highly efficient with Microsoft office, Google Mail, Calendar, Drive, Dropbox, with the ability to learn various software applications quickly.
Will have experience in emergency management or communications.
Will have an understanding of project management.
