PURPOSES
The EnglishConnect Curriculum Manager provides leadership in the design, development, and ongoing improvement of the EnglishConnect curriculum across the EnglishConnect portfolio.
EnglishConnect is the English-language-learning program provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help individuals expand opportunities for employment, education, and service through developing English skills in an environment of fellowship and faith. EnglishConnect includes courses from novice to intermediate-high levels. Courses are designed to help learners increase faith in Christ and become more capable learners as they develop English skills. The EnglishConnect learning approach helps learners act for themselves to apply principles of learning by study and by faith in personal study and group practice. The primary EnglishConnect audience encompasses members of the Church throughout the world seeking greater access to educational and employment opportunities through improved English proficiency.
The EnglishConnect Curriculum Manager would manage the design, development, technology integrations, and ongoing quality assurance of the EnglishConnect curriculum across the entire product line. The EnglishConnect Curriculum Manager will manage curriculum teams, guide product development phases, evaluate learning outcomes, and ensure program goals, quality and uniformity standards are upheld. The candidate works in collaboration with a broader governing body comprised of leaders across the Church Educational System (CES): BYU, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho, as well as the Missionary Department, Welfare and Self-Reliance Services, Publishing Services Division, Church Research Division, and other Church departments.
Day-to-day tasks would include management of the following: cross-organizational curriculum development teams (MTC, BYUI, BYUH, BYU-PW), collaborative assessment development and learning outcomes evaluation (BYU), infield evaluation of learning outcomes and curriculum needs of user groups, collaboration with partner subject-matter experts to support ongoing program improvement and provide ELL support for PathwayConnect and certificates and degree programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will manage the development and delivery of the EnglishConnect curriculum through three phases of the broader program:
Phase 1: The creation of EnglishConnect product line that aligns with the BYU-Pathway Worldwide mission and the Church’s overall strategy for English language learning.
Phase 2: The implementation of the EnglishConnect portfolio across multiple audiences in several phases.
Phase 3: Ongoing program management and program improvements, based on audience feedback, research, and industry best practices.
This position will likely require the candidate to work weekends and other non-traditional hours. Post-startup, the typical workweek will most likely consist of a 45+ hour schedule per week, with assignments periodically extending into evening and weekend hours. Responsibilities will include the following:

Manage the design, development, testing, maintenance, and improvement, of EnglishConnect curriculum across product offerings.

Collaborate with partner organizations to confirm the individual stewardships are reaching goals of steering committee stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Requires a graduate-level education, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience in TESOL, language acquisition, curriculum design, or other related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience working with cross-functional teams to manage curriculum design, development, and evaluation including product and project management processes.
Skills:
Ability to guide portfolio curriculum strategy using applied knowledge of theory, practical application, and user experience in an online, learner-centered, self-directed environment. Proactive leadership in product management in a portfolio environment. Ability to synthesize academic and spiritual principles of learning to help learners increase their capacity to act for themselves to achieve language learning goals. Familiarity with learning and assessment technologies, including competency-based curriculum approaches. Successful project & product management track record in language learning industry, Higher Education, or K-12. Firm leadership skills with diverse types of team members. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. An entrepreneurial mindset to build and advance new program services across an international market. A problem-solving mindset to resolve the myriad of unforeseen challenges that will surface while building new academic services.Ability to work collaboratively with peers and multiple stakeholders in a matrix management environment.
Required: Proficient in language acquisition methodologies, EIL instruction, ACTFL proficiency framework, principles of self-directed and self-regulated learning, and principles of learning as taught in the standard works and teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

WORTHINESS QUALIFICATION
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
