Job Description : Job Description:
Hurricane City Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Evidence/Crime Scene Technician. This position is a full-time position consisting of 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday; subject to call out and overtime. This position is under the direction of the Chief of Police and/or their designee. Evidence/Crime Scene Technician is responsible for the securing, storage, and disposal of evidence and property according to state and federal law and department procedures. The crime scene part of the job will include, but not limited to, crime scene photography, documentation, and collection of evidence.
Job Related Qualifications:
Applicants will need to have working knowledge of Federal and State laws regarding search and seizure of physical evidence. Applicants will also need thorough knowledge of the Hurricane Police Department rules and regulations, especially those dealing with evidence handling and control. Must have the ability to evaluate situations, based on training/experience and policy/procedure, and make a good decision. Applicants must have the ability to work without direct supervision and exercise initiative while maintaining working relationships with supervisor, department personnel, crime labs, and attorneys.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid Utah Driver’s License. Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in law enforcement or previous evidence room experience -OR- Degree in Forensic Science or related field.
