Location: Utah Pride Center, Salt Lake City, Utah
Term: Full Time
Schedule: Weekdays (M-F 9:30am-6:00pm) with an occasional evening or weekend required
Category: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $42,500 – $47,500 with excellent benefits
(i.e., Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, 401K Match, Generous PTO & Holidays, & many other benefits)

The Utah Pride Center (UPC) has been serving the Salt Lake City area for more than 29 years. We are the largest LGBTQ+ community organization in Utah. Our mission is to unite, empower, and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community by providing a welcoming and safe place for education, partnerships, services, and events which advance our collective health, wellness, and success.
Job Summary:
The Front Desk Manager is the first person to welcome people to the Utah Pride Center. Social and emotional acuity are necessary for success in this position. You will greet people and ensure that their first impression is warm, inviting and welcoming. Additionally, this person will assist the Front Desk Manager and perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. The Front desk manager will also provide operational support as needed and report to the Admin and Operations Director.
Primary Responsibilities:

Greeter and Gate Keeper

Maintain a space where guests feel welcome upon entry both aesthetically and interpersonally.
Ensure that all guests check-in with the system properly prior to entering the facility.
Assist guests that need help with checking in.
Address high volumes of individuals arriving for large community group meetings while maintaining control and following appropriate check-in procedures.
Ensure the safety of those within the building by actively monitoring individuals who are attempting to enter by ensuring everyone follows the proper safety/security protocols.

Phone System & Referrals

Effectively manage the front desk main phone system and properly direct incoming calls.
Efficiently direct individuals in crisis to the appropriate internal or external resource.
Provide fast and accurate referral information to in-person and phone call inquiries.
Manage and update the list of referral resources serving Utah’s LGBTQ+ community.

Community & Rooms Calendar Booking

Monitor and reply to incoming community calendar and room requests via email/phone calls.
Assist groups with learning how to access and submit events to the community calendar.
Update and manage the room bookings calendar for both internal and external reservations.

Daily Schedule & Community Boards

Maintain the digital daily posted calendar of events.
Assist with maintaining the digital messaging with current information on a weekly basis.
Accept, review, approve and post materials for the Community Bulletin & Resource boards.

Training and Managing Staff/Volunteers

Manage the staffing schedule of front desk associates and volunteers to ensure front desk coverage.
Train new staff members and volunteers to all front desk duties.
Assist with additional clerical projects to be completed by staff and volunteers as assigned.

Rental Contracts / Event Management

Introduce potential guests of the rental opportunities and requirements/rental rates.
Negotiate rental agreements with a full understanding of deliverables and expectations.
Track and ensure deposit and final payment for all services rendered in a timely manner.

Operations Assistance

Complete daily duties for opening and closing the Utah Pride Center.
Prepare rooms for groups per contracted agreements.
Assist individuals and groups with access to the desired IT equipment requested.
Maintain a professional and tidy front desk and main lobby area.
Monitor the security cameras and ensure security and safety protocols are maintained.

Perform other duties as required.

Attend and participate in the annual Utah Pride Festival and other high profile events.
Additional tasks may be required through direct communication

Requirements for Candidates:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal skills
Emotional acuity
Knowledge of LGBTQIA+ community issues
Ability to organize and complete tasks
Confidence in management skills
Communicate clearly and effectively
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse staff in a multicultural environment.

Preferences for Candidates:

High sense of responsibility and commitment to the UPC mission.
Detail orientated and strong communication skills.
Spanish speaking a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
