HERE’RE WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
THE ROLE PURPOSE:
Is to deliver a profitable Business, ensuring continuous growth of the Group’s Toys “R” Us business, as well as establishing a high level of customer service. Maintaining effective relationships with both the TRU organisations as well as other relevant Principals and effectively managing the budgeted resources to deliver the agreed financial objectives. Ensuring that both teams are fully engaged and are receiving both regular performance feedbacks as well as creating an environment that encourages 2-way discussions in an open and honest way.
Scope: 6 countries across the MENA region 20 stores and the pipeline in line with business plan.
KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Drive sales, margin and costs to maximize profit
The GM maximizes top‐line sales performance through delivery of store layouts, planning effective marketing campaigns in coordination with the marketing agency, drawing up a calendar of events / promotions, identifying & exploiting the differences in the markets the business operates.
Achieve turnover, net profit, gross margin, Open to Buy (OTB), Return on Investment (ROI) and market share targets as budgeted.
Financial
Construct, implement, monitor and control the budget and operational costs of all stores and overhead retail
The GM maximizes the gross and net margins achieved through effective control of the buying process, data analysis, trend management, appropriate assortment for store level, pricing alignment to country, specifically bought products (in addition to those offered by the Principals), cost effective set up and use of the supply chain through improvements in logistics charges. The GM constantly reviews the inventory levels to minimize terminal stocks. In addition, the GM is actively involved in ensuring that the shrinkage levels are kept to a minimum through effective use of security equipment and resources.
The GM exercises effective controls with the help of the finance function to ensure that the store operating costs, manpower costs and other expenses are kept within the budgeted limits. Enforce procedures to maintain stocks, system accuracy and profit protection across all countries.
Business Planning
Own and develop the Toys R Us as Al-Futtaim strategy
Work with the management team, Retail Division and Toys R Us to build and deliver Annual Business and a Long-Term Business Plan.
Digital Ecommerce role outs and management
To expand ecommerce platform to other GCC markets.
People
Manage, empower and motivate a management team of Senior Managers to achieve company targets, manage costs and to strive for excellence in meeting their objectives. Coaching management team and ensuring succession for GM role for the future is a key responsibility.
Work with HR to deliver targeted people solutions to create employee engagement, compliance to HR Policies and local legislation
Motivate and support the teams within the various functions to strive for one clear goal and to build a cohesive, focused team. Enthuse the team to strive towards the common goal.
Work with HR and function managers to define and develop potential and build a pipeline of succession for key roles.
Benchmark people KPIs with HR to drive productivity and hold line managers accountable for improvement.

Corporate and Brand
Ensure Toys R Us Brand integrity at all levels and touch points Promote Brand and Corporate Values, throughout the organization and depending functions within Al-Futtaim. Ensure stores comply with all relevant legislation, regulation and corporate governance practices.
Interact with mall managers and landlords in relation to rents, renewals, mall marketing plans, participation in mall promotions, new tenants in the malls.
Proactively communicate with Principals to establish and maintain a good working relationship and partnership. The GM has regular discussions with senior executives in Toys R Us about franchise renewals, resolving issues and delivering opportunities for the delivery of current and future commercial targets, negotiations for new markets, etc
Business Growth / New Markets & Channels
Responsible for Strategic Plans for new territories, site selection and the sign off, ensures successful entry in line with legislation and requirements of the brand.
Defining the different formats to tap the market opportunity in smaller regions and malls where it is not feasible to enter with full size store.
Develop B2B and internet sales as alternative channels and profitable channels with relevant partners
THE BELOW IS ABOUT THE KEY REQUIRED SPECIFICATION THAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL FOR THIS ROLE :
MBA or BBA (Business Management) – With SAP Knowledge is essential.
+15 years of experience of which 5 years should be at senior management level
Experience in a multi-channel and multi-country retail environment
Experience in managing and driving cross functional teams
Set and deliver Financial Budget and Key Performance Indicators
Understanding of customer research and the ability to amend the range/service to reflect customer requirements and feedback.
Understanding and applying of global and regional macroeconomic indicators
Job-Specific/Technical Skills required to complete the tasks:
Extensive experience in retailing, with store operations and or buying / category management background ( Preferrably Toys/Kids Retailing )
