Job Purpose:
For all staff in school we share a responsibility to ensure that children are always safe and properly supervised. 1. Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and improve educational outcomes:
Establish a stimulating environment where teachers can improve outcomes
Create an environment of mutual respect
Demonstrate consistently positive attitudes, values and behaviour
2. Promote positive progress and outcomes:
Develop capacities of teachers
Improve educational outcomes
Be instructional leaders and visionaries and assessment experts
Personnel management, building community partnerships and ensuring that the needs of all stakeholders are given attention are components of organizational success
Encouraging teachers to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their work
3. Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge through:
Sound knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas
Critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas
Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and the correct use of Standard English, whatever the teacher’s specialist subject
Heads of Departments are the key in overseeing the implementation of school programs in their daily incremental amounts
4. Adapting to respond to the strengths and needs of teachers:
Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and methods acceptable to the school
The ability to differentiate appropriately, using approaches which enable staff to teach effectively
Adapting to changing work priorities
Communicating with diverse groups and maintaining confidentiality
Setting priorities and ensuring objectives are met
Establishing effective relationships and demonstrating a sound understanding of how a range of factors can inhibit a teacher’s ability to teach and advise and how best to overcome these
6. Give accurate and productive feedback:
Give teachers regular feedback, both orally and through accurate performance management
Provide valid and effective feedback from lesson observations
Manage requirements for professional development

To ensure the curriculum, assessment, time allocations and qualifications of staff for MOE subjects is in line with UAE regulations
To take a lead in ensuring the school community pays adherence to sensitive issues and curriculum compliance in the UAE
To work collaboratively with colleagues and families particularly on cultural events
To have a positive impact on the work of the school as a member of the leadership team
Continuing Professional Development
Keep under review teacher methods of teaching and programmes of work
Be pro-active and take accountability for own development
Participate in arrangements for department teachers further training and professional development
Curriculum Development
Advise and co-operate with the Principal, Phase Leaders and other colleagues on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching schemes, methods of teaching and assessment, and pastoral arrangements
To embed UAE heritage and culture within the curriculum
Position Requirements:
Teaching Certification
Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree preferred
A minimum of 3 years in school leadership and management – middle or senior level
Proven organizational and managerial skills
Knowledge and understanding of the school improvement process
Knowledge and understanding of American curriculum & AERO Common Core Standards
Collaborative, reflective, and constructive in achieving the school’s 21st century learning expectations and school’s mission.
Fluent in English
Education: PGCE, Teaching Certification, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum 3 years of teaching in school leadership and management – middle or senior level
Competencies:
Proven organizational and managerial skills
Knowledge and understanding the school improvement process
Strong knowledge, experience and understanding of American curriculum & AERO Common Core Standards
Collaborative, reflective, and constructive in achieving the school’s 21st century learning expectations and school’s mission.
Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, in spoken and written form
Experienced in classroom and behavior management
