Job Description : SUMMARY
A Hospital Sitter will provide relief for patient’s families and loves ones, and sit with antagonistic, distressed, or suicidal patients, or those at risk of falling. This person will be responsible for providing care in a manner tat soothes patients, observe for changes in their condition, and summon nursing staff where necessary..ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
*Supervises patients at all times
Provides patients with emotional support
Refrain rom performing additional, unauthorized functions
Alerts nursing staff when patients need help
Maintains confidentiality of patient information
Adheres to relevant policies, procedures and standards
Observes patient’s activity and behavior and communicates on a regular basis to the nurse
Receives direction from the nurse (what to report, to whom, and how)
Provides for patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction
*COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES*
*Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: *
*High school diploma or General Education Development (GED)
Outstanding communication, listening and observation skills
Ability to respond swiftly
Ability to work well together with others
Professional appearance and proficient personal hygiene
Calm, confident manner.
Undeterred by distressed or combative patients
Available to work shifts, over weekends and on public holidays
