Dineamic Hospitality is seeking to host international students through our J-1 Visa Summer Work Travel program. J-1 applicants will be considered for a range of positions across our venues, from customer- facing roles like Hosts, Bussers, and Counter Attendants to Back of House positions like Prep Cooks and Dishwashers. All positions are centrally located in the city of Chicago and are easily accessible by public transportation. J-1 Visa Summer Work Travel students should have the ability to multitask efficiently, maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and guests, and enjoy making people’s days with great food and good energy. While experience in the restaurant industry is helpful, it’s not required – we care more about amazing attitudes, strong work ethics, and a willingness to learn!
What You May Do
Perform the role of a Busser and keep our restaurants running smoothly by cleaning and resetting tables, taking dishware and utensils to the kitchen to be washed; and making sure guests’ water glasses are full.
Perform the role of a Host and ensure our guests have an extraordinary experience by greeting them and escorting them to their tables; resolving guest inquiries; and maintaining the appearance of the entryway
Perform the role of a BomboBar Crew Member or Catering Counter Attendant, preparing food and drink orders and providing the type of customer service that will put a spring in anyone’s step
Perform the role of a Prep Cook, setting our kitchens up for success by having food items prepped and organized for service
Perform the role of a Dishwasher, ensuring that we have clean dishes, glasses, utensils, and kitchen equipment available for service, especially during peak hours
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
What You Need to Have
Ability to read, write, and speak in English
A designated sponsor for your J-1 Visa such as InterExchange, CIEE, Intrax Work/Travel, etc.
Successful completion at least one semester or equivalent of post-secondary academic study
1+ years experience working in a food service, bar/restaurant, or customer service role
Knowledge of all local health department requirements for safe food handling and sanitation standards; Non-expired Food Handlers Certification required (can be completed online)
A passion for quality and respect for team members and guests
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance; Stand or Walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift; Complete tasks that require repetitive motion
