Avalanche, a Warner Bros. Games studio, located along the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, has been in the video game business for 22 years. Acquired by Warner Bros. in 2016, we are at the top of our game and in the midst of creating a new, open-world, single-player action RPG experience, set in the 1800s Wizarding World–Hogwarts Legacy! The game is scheduled for release in 2022. Come play a part in imagining adventures and creating worlds together.

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks an Associate Designer to join the team working on the upcoming game, Hogwarts Legacy, a new open world, action RPG set in the Wizarding World.

The Daily

Implement game content such as world authoring in UE4, combat setup, event triggers and populating with gameplay objects
Work with other departments to implement missions, SFX, FX and other gameplay mechanics
Present design ideas, receive feedback, then adjust designs and metrics accordingly
Interface with the Story team to collaborate on game design
Work in UE4’s blueprint tool
Other duties may be assigned

The Essentials

Experience with Unreal 4 (UE4)
Good understanding of UE4’s Blueprints
A passion for gaming and game development
Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate with a design group and across other disciplines while maintaining a positive attitude
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, production-oriented environment
Highly motivated self-starter and creative thinker with fresh ideas
Remain current on console games and a knowledge of game mechanics across a variety of genres and platforms

Nice to Have

Industry experience as well as a related undergraduate degree
Pursuing a degree in Game Design or equivalent degree in a creative field strongly preferred. (Art/Illustration/Storytelling)
