Job Description : Mentor – Young Adult – $800 SIGN-ON BONUS

Summary: Join the team to help make a difference in people’s lives. Strive Forward is a semi-independent therapeutic program for young adults . Our goal is to help our students develop the skills to become an independent college student. Our approach encourages students to soar with their strengths and manage their weaknesses as they pertain to executive functioning skills, emotional and physical well-being. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in social work and who is looking to bolster their experience for continued education. We anticipate expansion and prefer to promote from within to various leadership and clinical positions. This is a great opportunity to make an impact while acquiring practical experience in the field of social work and psychology.
Job Location: Orem
Core Responsibilities: Build a therapeutically appropriate relationship with our students to help facilitate positive behavioral change. The most important commodity for our students is our time. Time spent with them will help break down barriers to allow the inspiration and influence that can naturally occur through solid relationships. Time also allows us to gain a better understanding of the source of their limitations which help avoid assumptions. This is all done through shared experiences that are typical to a college student. Those experiences can range from attending class, cooking, watching movies, hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, laser tag, board games, video games, etc. A successful mentor will embrace the concept of creating a meaningful experience for our students. You will be afforded ample opportunity to be creative to increase student engagement with the intention of creating that meaningful experience.
Day in the Life: All of our students will be engaged in some level of higher education or work experience. Thus a typical day will revolve around a typical college experience. The daytime hours are reserved for school, work and business type activities; the evening is usually downtime spent having fun; the weekend can be spent doing all sorts of activities. It’s up to the mentor to organize their time to balance student needs and self-care.

Full-time and Part-time positions available: Full time will spend the first few weeks shadowing and training then be transitioned to a Tuesday to Tuesday schedule ie week on week off. This is basically two 4-day weeks back to back. Part-time positions can be flexible and negotiable.
Requirements for Employment: Be at least 21 years old*

Care about people
Willingness to learn
Eligible to work in the USA
Pass a pre-employment drug screen (illegal federal drugs)
COVID-19 vaccine (spiritual and medical waivers available)

*Qualifications and Skills: *

Background in family studies/social work/psychology (preferred, but not required)
Customer service oriented
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Willing to work weekends and holidays
Strong work ethic
Valid driver’s license
Able to pass a background check and drug screening

*Pay: Full-time is salaried starting range is $29k – $33k depending on experience. Part-time is $15 hr.
