Role Description
Role Description: N/W Engineer

Handling & resolving escalated Network related incidents. Performance troubleshooting and capacity planning. Work along with Customer Project teams for future expansions & projects. Complex troubleshooting, Root cause analysis, performance tuning, diagnostics and maintenance of IT Network security related Equipment.

Role and responsibilities

Coordinate with different teams geographically.
Carry out proactive and reactive administration on Networking and associated applications.
Troubleshoot performance and availability issues on network security devices such as routers, switches firewalls, IDS, IPS, UTM, Content Filtering solutions.
Monitor alerts received from the monitoring systems and take appropriate action based on the defined processes.
Proactive incident & problem management.
Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving technical customer issues.
Keep track of capacity and security aspects and analyze it in light of the business requirements of the customer and proactively ensues scalability and optimal use of existing infrastructure.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Vendor Management (service provider, etc..).
Ability to adhere customer policies & procedures.
Ability to communicate and listen effectively.
Work closely with the Project Manager in project planning, status reporting and ensure adherence to SLAs.
Responsible for SLA’s & KPI’s day to day operations from N/W side
Responsible for Service Improvement plans and Continuous improvement plans
Responsible for Documentation, Left Shift of Operations, Automation & Other optimization / productivity levers

Technical skills requirements

Willing to work in shifts
Strong technical knowledge on IT Infrastructure Management all flavors of N/W
Good understanding on Storage
Excellent knowledge on ITIL processes like incident, problem & change management
Basic knowledge of operating systems like Linux, Unix, Windows 7, Windows server 2003/2008.
Basic Knowledge of Windows Active directory Services, RADIUS, LDAP.
Ability to find technology workarounds to issues that can be resolved in a timely fashion
SLA & Stakeholder Management
Understanding of Cloud concepts
Proficient in ITSM tools functionality like Service Now etc

Nice-to-have skills

Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills
Ability of adapt any new technical environment with minimal knowledge transfer efforts

Qualifications

Engineering or equivalent Graduate Degree
ITIL Certification
N/W & Firewall related Certifications
