We’re on a mission to bring truth to the internet by enabling digital identity verification in a new way. We’re starting by disrupting the antiquated Background Check industry. We’ve built proprietary technology which uses automation, machine learning, and data to create efficient turnaround times and cost effective solutions across all kinds of background checks, which will ultimately power the digital identity use cases of tomorrow.
About the Opportunity: We’re in hyper-growth and developing our product to exceed expectations in the antiquated background check market while building for scale and innovative future digital identity use cases.
You will ensure a great experience for our customers and candidates by working with the KarmaCheck system to facilitate rapid processing and verification of background check services. You will be a key part in ensuring that accurate, fair, and consistent results are reported to our customers enabling equitable hiring processes in their business.
We are looking for someone that is a “whole-picture” thinker and does not lose that viewpoint when focused on a small detail or specific set of data. Your mission will be to identify and solve problems that our customers encounter by troubleshooting in real time and thinking through the system as a whole. As part of a great team we will look for you to actively ask questions and over-communicate rather than trying to solve problems in a silo.
KarmaCheck is a fully remote organization and this role will be a full time remote work position. As part of your role as a remote worker in the Chicago area there will be an occasional need for you to go in person to 1 or more Chicago area courthouses during the course of your work day to access public data terminals.
This is a 100% Telecommute position with the rare exception of travel for company/team gatherings.
Responsibilities
Process screenings for background checks using in-house and third party vendors and technologies with screenings in categories such as identity, criminal, employment, education, licenses/certificates, occupational health, and more.
Occasionally go in person to a county courthouse to get data from a public access terminal.
Respond to customer and candidate inquiries in a polite, friendly, respectful, and professional tone with urgency and accuracy.
Maintain and update data sets, pricing, and other information sets critical to company operations.
Work directly with Customer Success, Product Management, and Engineering solve problems and give feedback on process improvements.
Special projects as requested by company management.
Document processes and training new work colleagues as the team grows.
Participate in electronic communication channels on a constant basis as part of your daily work.

can succinctly write and respond to inquiries via email or over the phone,
have easy access into Chicago area county courthouses,
are open to potential evening and/or weekend hours as necessary, particularly for any prioritized/escalated customer need,
are a self starter capable of managing your time effectively while not being micromanaged,
love connecting with people to compensate for the digital world in which we work
Qualifications
4+ years of relevant professional work experience in customer service and/or technical support,
Experience working with customer service software,
Experience using online communication tools for text, voice, and video
Must be able to adjust to changing priorities as is common in a startup environment
Must have a passion for providing excellent customer service
