Job Description : Job Purpose: The job holder supports the Passenger Publications Manager in defining inflight publications (e.g. IFE guides etc.), on-screen publications (e.g. seatback interactive screens), and broadcast information services (e.g. Airshow, connecting gate, inflight news products etc.).. These publications form an important part of the inflight passenger product. The job holder is required to support the Passenger Publications Manager with adhoc product development projects. Job Outline: – Inflight Publications: Co-ordinate the monthly updating of content for the various inflight entertainment publications. This includes sourcing and minor editing of synopsis and text support for all content including Hollywood films, TV, Arabic and Hindi and other regional films and TV. To adhere to agreed production schedules in order to ensure that the IFE publications are produced on time every issue, maintaining accepted levels of accuracy with the content. – Interactive content: Ensure that seatback interactive content is continually reviewed and updated as necessary, liaising with the management and relevant external suppliers to establish, update schedules and creation of new content to Emirates requirements. – Cabin Crew communications: write and publish the monthly cabin crew communications guide using desktop publishing software. Liaise with other department members, inflight services, IFE vendor and EK engineering maintenance to ensure that all required messages are included and approved. Production of other adhoc elements such as posters for briefing rooms will be required to ensure that the message is communicated effectively as required. The job holder is responsible for monitoring cabin crew feedback to ensure that all operational issues are identified and addressed via these methods. – Inflight Literature (non-publications): continually review all inflight materials for suitability, accuracy, clarity, design suitability and opportunity for product improvement. This includes instruction cards, promotional literature, headset bag designs etc. New designs to be developed in coordination with the management and approval of all relevant parties. – Launch of new IFE products: support the management team and lead if necessary the smooth incorporation of new IFE products (i.e Japanese movies, dual language TV programmes etc.) into the IFE digital and print publications. – Airshow: coordinate with advertising and graphic design unit to producte required elements to support new route introductions, frequency changes and oversee the periodic update of all graphics on the airshow system. To be fully conversant with the technical capabilities of the airshow system, liasing with engineering avionics workshop, to ensure that the airshow product onboard is optimised. – Live news product: ensure that the live news product onboard (currently BBC news) operates to specification and undertake technical troubleshooting if required. This will involve liasino EGIT, EK engineering and avionics workshop and external news providers. Periodically manage the refreshing presentation look and feel. In the future, it is anticipated that additional news services and methods of delivery will be adopted and project work will be required to drive these to successful introduction. – Internet updates: Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that the Emirates website accurately reflects the current inflight entertainment product offering. Create, source and provide required material to Emirates internet unit to support this. – Standards and suitability of content: ensure that all editorial and pictorial content used for presentation to passengers or crew, meets the corporate brand image and established product standards, as well as English grammar rules and is suitable as to not cause offence to passengers. – Dubai Mega events: to incorporate promotion for various major events (Dubai shopping festival, dubai summer surprises etc.) into the onboard publications in a timely manner. undertake, manage or be a team member in adhoc projects as and when required by the management to tackle particular problems or improve the product.
Qualifications & Experience: Marketing & Media Communication.Graphic Design : 5+ Years Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) : Degree in media, communications, graphic design or related field. he position demands at least 3 years management experience in the publishing, communications and/or digital and/or IFE industries. Knowledge/skills: Experience of managing digital and print publications, preferably with another airline operating a multichannel IFE system. This will include the advanced use of desktop publishing tools, e.g. adobe photoshop, pagemaker, etc. An indepth knowledge of IFE systems, including digital media encoding, AVOD media integration and content delivery to the aircraft. An indepth knowledge of the Emirates inflight services product, processes and policies. A detailed knowledge and understanding of the various formats and technical standards and duplications of IFE videos and audio materials, especially multi lingual formats, as relevant to the various emirates inflight entertainment system formats. The job holder will have a keen interest and knowledge in the various entertainment media, such as video, TV, film, audio and print. Customer friendly skills in dealing with internal and external suppliers, and occasionally passengers are necessary. Computers are used extensively and a thorough knowledge of excel, word, access and DTP is essential. Further training on certain specialist PC programmes may be required beyond current knowledge, as use of such application programmes is extensive and complex. The post holder must be able to articulate clearly and concisely in both the written and spoken form. Excellent communication skills are of paramount importance and the job holder must be able to assimilate, interpret and communicate complex information quickly and effectively.
