Shriners Hospitals for Children – Chicago is looking for Patient Access Representatives to join our Revenue Cycle team.
Coordinates activities related to the receipt and processing of applications for treatment. Performs pre- registration and scheduling functions prior to an initial hospital visit. Maintains communication with patient families, physicians and other disciplines concerning the status of applications and appointments. Performs data entry and reviews electronic applications for completeness, appropriate documentation regarding guardianship and other necessary information. Answers and retrieves messages from the intake telephone line. Performs occasional in-person applications for walk in patients.
Uses the electronic scheduling system efficiently and appropriately in the day-to-day application of the job. Acquires and transmits essential information to appropriate personnel. Interrelates with patients, families, co-workers and other personnel to promote cooperation and efficiency in meeting the health care needs of patients.
Job Requirements:
High School education and diploma, or its equivalent, required.
One (1) year experience in Patient Access or healthcare business office. Hospital experience strongly preferred.
Experience with a Cerner based Electronic Medical Record preferred.
