Job Description : A Roman Catholic facility founded by the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph and sponsored by Catholic Health International, St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center aspires to live the healing mission of Christ within the South Side community of Chicago. The mission calls us to care for the sick and promote the health of the residents in the community while witnessing the Christian values of respect, dignity, caring and compassion for all persons.
We are seeking a Transporter that is responsible for transporting patients to and from the Radiology Department within the Hospital. They perform a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment. The transporter greets and assists patients and visitors at the Hospital.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
CPR Certification.

Responsibility Highlights

Transport patients to treatment units, using wheelchairs and/or stretchers as requested.
Assists patient who may at times be using oxygen tanks.
Assist patients to and from wheelchairs or bed.
Assist patients in and out of vehicles and escort or transport them to and from Hospital lobby.
Assist patients in dressing and undressing, if needed.
Change linen on stretcher and prepare stretcher for next patient.
Responsible for all transportation equipment to be placed in the Radiology Department at the end of each shift.
Responsible for the disinfecting and cleaning of all transportation equipment used in the Radiology Department.
Direct and instruct patients to designated areas in the department and Hospital.
Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness throughout the Hospital.
