Assistant Head teachers.
Brighton College Abu Dhabi, a sister
school of Brighton College UK is a leading
Independent-style British International
School located in the United Arab
Emirates. Founded in 2011 at a prime
location on Abu Dhabi Island on a
purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus,

The positions of Prep School Assistant Head teachers are new and are designed to
support the innovative development of the school curriculum in Digital Learning and
curriculum Innovation. The positions will also require a good grasp of Teaching and
Learning, Data Management, CPD focus and Pastoral student support.
Demonstrable experience of Computer Science teaching and/or STEAM/STEM
curriculum development would be an advantage.

OVERVIEW: Prep School Assistant Head (Digital Learning and Assessment)
The Assistant Head (Digital Learning and Assessment) will work closely with
members of SLT and Extended Leadership Team to lead and manage the day-to-
day curriculum matters of the Prep School of the College. S/he should be an
adaptable and innovative leader, a good motivator, communicator and
administrator, and should be capable of managing key aspects of an expanding
and high-profile British- international school. S/he should be able to provide
professional leadership and guidance of academic matters to enable the effective
development of the Prep School of the College (Years 3 to 6), its staff and pupils.

Reporting to: Deputy Head of Prep School
Main Purpose
➢ Computer Science Teaching Yr 3-6 (60%)
➢ Leadership of Digital Learning across the Prep School
➢ Opportunity to work across College on Digital Strategy
➢ Support the Monitoring and evaluation of Teaching & Learning
across Prep School
➢ Implementation of ADEK initiatives (Academic)
➢ Support the assessment, data and reporting processes of the Prep
School

Demonstrable experience of delivering a progressive Computer Science
curriculum
Knowledge and training in Online Safeguarding
Duties and Responsibilities
To be an ambassador of the College at all times, in school and within the UAE
To lead by example in all areas of school life and to be a powerful role model for
colleagues, as an outstanding practitioner
To teach up to a 60% teaching timetable, carry out duties as required and to
actively support the CCA Programme leading a minimum of two activities per
week
To carry out reasonable professional requests made by the Head Mistress or
Head of School
To meet all additional teaching and pastoral responsibilities, as outlined below
Leadership Responsibilities
To create and develop a positive team atmosphere
To drive excellent standards of teaching and learning across the Prep School
through creative initiatives and collaborative projects ensuring a varied and
inspiring curriculum
To participate in the induction process of new teaching staff by introducing
academic policies and practices as necessary
To foster a close partnership with parents, initiating contact in appropriate
circumstances and ensuring that there is a record of this
To contribute to the strategic development of the Prep School in-line with the
aims of the School through the College Development Plan and the development
and implementation of the Prep School Development Plan
To lead and manage T&L initiatives in the Prep School
Academic
Developing and Establishing a 21st Century Digital Learning Strategy and
Curriculum for the Prep School
Academic leadership in all curriculum matters Y 3 – 6
To work collaboratively with Heads of Years and SLT
To provide consultancy and guidance on the curriculum mapping
To support Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) with the production and
maintenance of curriculum documents, in consultation with Heads of Year
(HoYs)
To create, in conjunction with SLT, the annual Monitoring Schedule and ensure
implementation and follow up
To establish and maintain links and regular contact with professional bodies and
local schools
To support an annual update of all policies and documentation in relation to
Teaching and Learning and to ensure that all teachers are familiar with and
comply with them
To monitor teaching and learning and pupil attainment and achievement, in
consultation with SLT
To oversee teaching and learning initiatives and compliance with ADEK
regulations
To develop and manage target-setting strategies to enhance pupil
performance, in conjunction with SLT, Inclusion
To be involved in the recruitment to the Academic Team
To support the development of an active and relevant programme of parental
workshops on academic matters
To liaise with the Pre-Prep School and Senior School to manage the transition of
Year 2 pupils to Year 3 and Year 6 pupils into Year 7, in conjunction with the
Deputy and Assistant Heads of these schools
To liaise with Pre-Prep and Senior counterparts to ensure curriculum
consistency across the whole College (Curriculum Group)(Digital learning
Strategy)
To liaise with the Deputy Head (T&L) to track, monitor and report data for all
pupils, using CAT4 and GL assessments and internal assessments
To support timetable development for the Prep School with other members of
SLT
To liaise over the management of the Prep School calendar
To liaise with Extended PS Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure positive Teaching
and Learning outcomes.
Pastoral
To be aware of and act upon all policies regarding the safeguarding of children,
supporting and demonstrating a culture of safeguarding at all times.
To be familiar with in all the College’s policies on Health and Safety and be
proactive in ensuring the safety of all members of the College community at all
times
To promote pride in the College among the pupil body through high standards of
dress, behaviour and commitment
To show a positive interest in each child’s personal and domestic circumstances
and to liaise with the Deputy Head (Pastoral) on a regular basis to ensure that
all pupils are fully supported with their learning
To encourage punctuality and attendance through careful record keeping and
follow up in line with the attendance policy
To work with the Pastoral team to ensure pupils act in-line with academic
expectations and rules
Professional Responsibilities
To ensure that all communication is acted upon appropriately and in a timely
manner
To attend and support Parents’ Evenings, Assemblies, Productions, Sporting
and Special Events
To be responsible for all College resources particularly those in your care,
reporting damage or loss to your line manager or the facilities manager, as
appropriate
To foster a close partnership with parents, initiating contact in appropriate
circumstances and ensuring that there is a record of this
Teachers are expected to be in School prior to 7.00 am and until at least
4:00pm Monday to Thurs. 7am to 12pm Friday.
Formal Qualifications/Experience
A good UK Honours Degree (or equivalent)
A certified teaching qualification
A distinguished record of teaching and middle/senior management experience
A strong record of professional development
Working knowledge of National Curriculum
At least four years of teaching experience
Leadership experience
Knowledge of Tracking and Monitoring systems (Desirable)
Knowledge and experience of iSams (Desirable)
