The Department of Cultural & Community Engagement is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Utah Division of Arts & Museums team as Public Art Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the coordination, management and maintenance of public art projects commissioned or purchased through the State of Utah. This includes simultaneously managing multiple projects in the selection and commissioning of artists, coordination and contract management.

Principal Duties
As the Public Art Coordinator you will typically:

Manage public art projects at various stages of development.
Facilitate and work intimately with client agencies in artist and artwork selection and approval processes.
Design and compose compelling artist calls to encourage artist participation.
Manage the interests and needs of varied range of stakeholders, including the State of Utah agencies, schools, colleges and universities, artists – Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management, Public Art Selection Committees and various panels, peer professionals and others.
Coordinate public information through community and artist outreach, including the Public Art Program website and social media. This includes public speaking, legislative presentations and education lectures.
Possess knowledge of the range of artistic possibilities and familiarity with local and national resources in the field.
Balance the interests and needs of all the participants in the public art process.
Prepare, monitor and administer contract agreements.
Oversee the percent of art budgets for each project as well as the maintenance and conservation fund.
Work with the Collections Registrar, oversee the documentation, care and maintenance of the public art collection.
Read and interpret architectural plans, elevations and renderings.
Actively cultivate and encourage involvement of Utah artists in the program.
Work in collaboration with the Division of Arts & Museums’ staff on various initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and agency goals.

deal Candidate
The ideal person for this position will possess:

2 or more years of experience in a field related to administering/coordinating public art.
The ability to work well independently and with the team members.
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
Working knowledge of Google Workspace & Microsoft Office Suite.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
The ability to exercise sound independent judgement within established statue, policies and procedures.
The ability to travel.

Preferences
Preference may be given to those with:

A Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Fine Arts, Arts Administration or Art History.
2 or more years of public art management experience.
Contemporary art and related issues, and in particular, knowledge and familiarity of the theory, principles, practices and procedures of contemporary public art practice.
Experience with CaFE and Salesforce.
