Job Description : The Department of Preventive Medicine at Keck School of Medicine of USC seeks a Public Communications Coordinator to coordinate activities and events to enhance public awareness. A successful candidate for this position will be a team player, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, have an eye for design and thrive working independently toward a team goal. This position will use WordPress, CRM and project management software on a daily basis.
Duties will include:
Coordinating activities and events to enhance the public’s awareness of the University, the Department of Preventive Medicine, and students, faculty and/or alumni of the University.
Coordinating preparation, production, and distribution of informational materials.
Coordinating public relations events and other activities. May include coordinating volunteers, students, alumni and/or staff.
Negotiating licenses and/or vendor contracts, as assigned.
Coordinating work of contracted vendors, as assigned, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and/or services.
Administering department public relations calendar. Monitoring schedules, production, and distribution arrangements and other details to ensure timely, successful completion of public relations materials, events, etc.
Establishing and maintaining contacts with internal and external sources including media sources, public relations colleagues and vendors. Attending meetings, conferences, classes, etc., as assigned.
Writing and/or editing copy for department publications.
Researching and preparing budget proposals for public relations activities, as assigned.
Administering public relations budget as assigned.
Coordinating appropriate use of University and/or department logos, emblems and indicia
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Public relations, journalism, advertising or related field.
