Job Description : Ballet Chicago Summer Intensive Residential Chaperone
Job DescriptionBallet Chicago seeks experienced, energetic, and mature residential chaperones to support our summer dance programs. Candidates must have a desire to work with children and teenagers in a supervisory role. Ballet Chicago’s summer dance program is a residential, summer intensive training program in classical ballet with a comprehensive curriculum designed for the serious ballet student. Residential chaperones oversee the residential students and are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe residential environment for adolescents and young adults during our intensive ballet programs. Our program is for male and female students ages 11 and up. This is a full time, rigorous commitment geared toward individuals with experience working with groups of children in a supervisory, teaching, or residential setting.
Residential chaperones receive suite-style housing in the University Center residence halls, 19 meals per week, as well as a weekly stipend. Chaperones will also receive complimentary tickets to all activities that include museums, concerts, movies and many other Chicago-based activities.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Accepting responsibility and acting as a parental figure for all students
Monitoring safety and well-being of students
Enforcing rules and regulations of Ballet Chicago and University Center residence halls
Planning activities for students
Chaperoning students on activities and physician visits, multiple daily walks between ballet studios and dorm building
Being available for students and emergencies on a full-time basis, beyond regularly scheduled duty shifts, including some overnight hours, throughout the duration of the program
Shifts occur throughout the day and night, staff must consider this a full-time job and should not hold other work or school commitments
Serve as role model for residents by abiding by all dorm and studio policies and federal, state, and city laws
Qualifications
Must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
Experience working with or mentoring adolescents
Ability to be a leader as well as a team player
Good judgment and conflict resolution skills and the ability to respond well in disciplinary and emergency situations
Ability to represent Ballet Chicago in a professional and positive manner
Due to the supervisory nature of this position, CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE
Ballet Chicago Summer Intensive
Summer Course & Advanced Intensive: June 25th – August 13th (7 Weeks)
Summer Course: June 25th – July 30th (5 Weeks)
Advanced Intensive: July 31st – August 13th (2 Weeks)
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $450.00 per week
Schedule:
Day shift
Monday to Friday
Night shift
Weekend availability
COVID-19 considerations:All students and chaperones staying in the dorms are required to be fully vaccinated. Additionally, all studios are sanitized daily.
Education:
High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
Driver’s License (Preferred)
CPR Certification (Preferred)
