PayPal Enterprise Cyber Security Team, which is working on building a new Data and ML platform, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a highly skilled team of experienced professionals which believe in best-of-breed software craftsmanship, clean and elegant coding, using the right tool for the job and always exploring and learning new technologies and approaches.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and own analytical frameworks used for research, development, and deployment of security controls in the serving (online), near real-time (stream processing), and offline (Hadoop batch) layers of PayPal’s Cyber Security systems.
Work along with data scientists to deliver world-class data science solutions from the research phase all the way to production.
Work on building a cloud deployable solution focusing on cloud security
Gain expertise and deep understanding of PayPal’s development cycles, platforms, and technology, while contributing to them via inner sourcing.
Required Skills
Hands-on – Responsible for writing code primarily in Spark, Scala, and Java.
Hand on: Design end-to-end data pipeline solutions (NoSQL databases, Job Schedulers, Hadoop/Big Data Development)
Excellent coding skills and deep understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, concurrency, and algorithms
Basics of cloud and DevOps skills
Understanding of mathematical concepts, statistical analysis is a plus
Highly motivated, goal-driven, can-do approach
Innovative, collaborative, entrepreneurial, Team player, Ability to multi-task
Curious and open-minded
Excellent English (written and verbal)
Experience Requirements
6+ years of experience as a software engineer
3+ years of Hands-on experience with Scala/Hadoop/Spark/Kafka
Experience in building enterprise data lakes
Understanding of Machine Learning and Data Science
Familiarity with building rest services and DevOps
Experience with Gradle/Maven/Git/Continuous integration
BE/ME/MTech/MCA or equivalent
Advantage: Experience in financial services and security technology industries.
Advantage: Experience as a Security Engineer or Consultant performing software-based risk assessments, Zero Trust and Cloud Security
