Job Description : Senior Data Steward Partner – Data & Model Governance (D&MG) Team
Join us as we work to transform Thomson Reuters into a truly data-driven company.
This is a key role, within our Data & Model Governance (D&MG) team and working out of one of our global offices in Bangalore.
The Data Steward Partner is a central role, coordinating and collaborating with a distributed Data Stewards Network to ensure that our Data Policies, Standards and Ethics Framework are defined, implemented and monitored effectively within our critical business domains.
The Data Stewards Network (DSN) will comprise those subject matter experts who can represent three main interest groups in the end-end data chain for each data domain:
1. System owners who develop and manage the platforms that store the data
2. Data Producers that create and update data in those systems
3. Data Consumers that use the data
You will act as an internal consultant and data governance champion for a defined portfolio of projects as we embed our data stewardship model and continually improve our data governance and data quality processes across the enterprise.
About the Role
In this opportunity as Data Steward Partner, you will:
Act as a data and model governance consultant and educator on critical data projects
Ensure end-end data flows within these projects are aligned and controlled effectively
Ensure that Policies, Standards and Guiding Principles are applied within the solution designs
Work with cross-functional data stewards to monitor and manage data health within your portfolio
Take ownership of the data issue management and resolution process within your portfolio
Collaborate with members in the business domains to encourage and ensure D&MG practices, processes and procedures are followed
Act as point of ownership for metadata standards within your portfolio
Work with the D&MG teams (Operations & Assurance, Policy & Ethics, Stewardship) to draft or amend policies, standards and data control proposals, to meet business data needs
Work with the D&MG team to drive best practices and compliance with data policies and standards within your portfolio
Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, advancements and automation
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Data Steward Partner if you meet all or most of these criteria:
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ year experience in one or more of Digital, Data, Models (AI/ML), Analysis and/or Technology roles
Experience applying collaborative problem-solving, negotiation and change activist skills
Practical experience working within a data ethics/governance framework
Process analysis skills, with ability to translate business issues and requirements into actionable plans
Thorough understanding of data and systems infrastructures
Thorough understanding of data quality management
Technical skills in exploring, analyzing, profiling, manipulating data sets (e.g. SQL, Python, Alteryx…)
