Analyzes customer information requirements and product specifications to define technical content strategy and plan. Designs and develops written and/or visual product-related information – hard copy, web – (e.g., user/configuration/troubleshooting guides), and online information (interactive demos, help systems) integrated into product, for a variety of audiences (end user, system administrators, internal support engineers, product developers, training developers). Codes, builds, compiles, and tests online information and/or sets-up, loads and tests systems hardware to create information deliverables and provide feedback on ease of use and user interfaces to product development. As customer advocate, helps define/refine product requirements. Develops standards and style documents and templates, scripts, style sheets, and script and graphic libraries to ensure common look and feel. Interfaces with cross-functional areas as a member of the product development team, such as marketing, test, support, and manufacturing.
Required skillsExperience in creating software documentation for native English usersExcellent hold on English grammarStrong knowledge of Adobe Frame Maker (Structured)Ability to explore and analyze product features and leverage it for user documentation & video creationThorough understanding of technical writing standards, processes, and their applicationStrong communication skills and interpersonal skills to work with software developers, testers, support engineers, and doc team membersAbility and flexibility to work with teams across different geographiesExperience in documenting software products for technical audienceMust be technically inclined to understand infrastructure, enterprise product technologies, and analyze documentation & video requirementsExperience creating information strategy for a product domain and / or technologiesExperience in estimating and planning, and multi-taskingRepresent company in professional associations, e.g., STC, ASM-SIGDOC, IEEE, technology standards committees such as DocBook Standards Committee.
Desirable skillsUsability/user experience testing and documentationExperience in creating videos using tools like Camtasia
