Job Description : Duties
At full performance, as a Social Scientist, you will:

Design and facilitate the implementation and execution of engagement and outreach strategies in connection with the consent-based siting process.
Develop, conduct, and oversee studies and analyses to identify and understand the characteristics, needs, behavior, and preferences of target populations from project inception through completion of reports.
Oversee the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, including survey data, open-ended response data, focus group data, interview data, and secondary data from existing datasets to assess candidate communities for potential facility siting an interim storage facility.
Establish and maintain an open, constructive, and transparent relationship with the public, Tribes, states , industry, universities, and international partners to seek and consider input and ideas on improved ways of implementing solutions to the challenges facing nuclear waste management.
Create a strategy for data collection and community engagement and informs the strategy for the consent-based siting process, based on behavioral science concepts, principles, and research.
Represent the Director in interaction, communication with, and potential negotiations involving consent-based siting with several individuals and groups, including Members of Congress, Congressional staff, other federal agencies, and interest groups.

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be reviewed by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
