Introduction:
The role requires an experienced, high calibre Designer with good functional, technical skills and product knowledge to work with business stakeholders, solution designers, testers and developers to help deliver change in agreed time, quality and cost parameters.
Validate requirements and discuss with product and business owners
To translate business requirements into technical requirements, identifying any gaps in end to end flow
Participate in impact assessments for new work
Review requirements to understand how both functional and non-functional aspects (e.g. capacity, availability, response times, etc.) need to be met
What will you be doing?
Develop a design that meets the requirement specifications.
Ensuring that all change is designed and implemented using best practices.
Collaborate and communicate with stake holders, business analysts, solution designers, etc. to understand the requirements and convert them into a technical design.
Understand and Adhere to standards already laid out.
Arrange walkthroughs for Testers and Developers and help them understand the design changes.
Participate in defect triaging and help identify issues.
Track and highlight all design Risks/Issues/Dependencies/Assumptions from beginning of the requirement till closure.
Support Live Implementation/Deployment activities at scheduled out of office hours.
Support Live Proving activities as and when needed after production deployments.
Able to peer review design, SQLs and code.
Maintain the product design, ensuring quality and integrity throughout the development lifecycle with minimal post Live issues.
Participate in requirement gathering / component impact assessment of PWR’s (provide support to Product engineers to complete above).
Participate in technical implementation planning, ensuring that the integrity of live operations will be maintained.
Liaise with technical delivery managers, keeping them updated on progress against milestones, risks and issues.
Collaborate with the application support / service teams to ensure smooth transition of applications into their BAU environments.
Ensuring that all engineering reviews are completed and the introduction of change into the Production environment follows agreed governance processes
Retain accountability for the product components and interface links with other applications

What we’re looking for:
Strong expertise in working in DWH architecture. Especially in AbInitio
Strong expertise designing for enterprise scale applications
Should be able to peer review design and code.
Ability to work closely with strategic architecture functions to assess the engineering ‘doability’ and risk associated with new solution proposals
Use of Jira and Confluence for documentation and task tracking
Ability to explore new age technology improvement / automation
Strong Technical knowledge in AbInitio

Skills that will help you in the role:
Understanding of Barclays Clearing Hub environments, aPaaS platforms, applications clients and monitoring solution.
Experience of Cloud Technologies e.g. AWS.
Knowledge of Barclays applications or experience at Barclays
Application support and maintenance experience
