Job Summary

In response to the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, Contact Tracers are needed to work on the University of Utah campus. We are looking for individuals with a public health background to be a part of “bending the curve” in Utah. Contact Tracers play an essential role in the COVID-19 pandemic response. Those selected for these roles will be trained by the University of Utah and follow current UDOH processes to trace and interview people infected with or exposed to SARS-CoV-2.

Currently enrolled University of Utah students, including those with a federal work study grant through Financial Aid, are encouraged to apply.

This position has the ability to telework remotely. Employees hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID-19 Telecommuting Agreement.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Read, interpret, and understand public health guidance.
Answer public health related questions

Call and speak to members of the public, collecting confidential health information while maintaining professionalism and compassion. (Note: these interactions are speaking with people over the phone, not texting).
Interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
Follow strict data privacy guidelines.
After the initial training, the Contact Tracers will work remotely but must have access to a computer and WiFi in a confidential area.

Requirements:

Commitment to work a minimum of three (3) months for at least to to 20 hours per week.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand public health information.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with technology and an ability to learn and adapt to new technological systems.
Comfortable working independently.
Comfortable speaking on the phone with people in the community.
