Position : Strength and Conditioning Coach

Job Description : SLC Strength & Conditioning is seeking a knowledgeable strength and conditioning coach with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong sense of accountability, leadership, and ability to work independently with little oversight.
Job Overview: Using SLC Strength & Conditioning core values, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will facilitate advanced programming in a personal or group training setting in a safe and effective manner, assist with the development of programs, administer Functional Movement Assessments, and providing guidance on goal setting and basic nutritional intake for members. Other responsibilities include providing floor support during Open Gym hours and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the premises.
Additionally, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will be viewed as a leader, and thus must be educated, have a strong background and knowledge of muscular development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to be assertive and make decisions.
Responsibilities and Duties: In order to successfully coordinate and facilitate the strength and conditioning programming for a general population with skill levels ranging from novice to expert, the Strength and Conditioning Coach must be detail-oriented, organized, approachable, and great at managing multiple overlapping tasks and priorities, all while maintaining quality and safety in the weight room. Core duties and responsibilities include the following:

Facilitate and Design Training Programs: Works with the head coach to design training programs that revolve around strength, conditioning, and weight training geared toward an array of activity and sport, including general health and wellness. Must account for procedures and regulations enforced at SLC Strength & Conditioning and use training programs not just to maximize overall performance but also to minimize injury. Personal Training responsibilities may be presented upon approval from head coach.
Evaluate Members: Observe training, lifting technique, and performance. Any observations should be used in conjunction with member records to assess strengths and weaknesses, and provide feedback to members and the head coach, accordingly. Must ensure proper form and technique is used at all times and proper progressions or modifications are given appropriately.
Maintenance of Work Area and Records: Must maintain detailed, accurate, and updated member records in order to track member progress. They communicate this information with coaches and use performance data in order to assess training programs for effectiveness. Must also maintain an orderly and organized work area at all times.
Administer Tests: In order to properly and safely execute training programs, the Strength and Conditioning Coach may perform baseline tests to assess the skills and weaknesses of each individual member. Must be able to identify muscular imbalances and understand proper progressions/modifications for various pre-existing injury.
Software Management & Sales: Member records will be maintained in software owned and operated by SLC Strength & Conditioning. Sales include signing members up with memberships, ensuring contracts and waivers are signed, and/or assist with sale of retail product.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science or related industry
Coaching or training experience in a weight training facility
Familiar with various training systems and program execution
Advanced knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and biomechanics
Experience with proper weight lifting progressions and modifications for pre-existing injury and injury prevention
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Personable and approachable
Timely and dependable
BLS/AED Certified
First Aid Certified
Must be certifiable to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist or eligible for certification within 6 months of hire
Must be able to safely demonstrate and perform various exercises, multiple times, throughout shift
Must be able to safely lift and move up to 100 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or higher in related industry
Experience in a university or professional strength and conditioning setting
Currently holds CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

This position requires heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time. Applicant must be available to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as operating hours begin at 5:00 am and end at 9:00 pm, seven days per week.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
