Job Description : Under the general supervision of the Manager for Administrative & Student Services of the Honors Programs office, the Student Affairs Advisor (SAA) provides advice and information about Honors Programs and its offerings to undergraduate students and various other populations inside and outside the university, in person and via electronic & non-electronic channels. Responds to academic policy & regulation queries and advises students on procedural matters such as the filing of petitions, deciding to meet with Honors counselors, and consulting other campus units for desired student services. Performs programmatic duties such as managing the Honors Summer Research Stipends and running its corresponding awarding ceremony, the Annual Rose Gilbert Honors Spring Reception; collaborating with the Honors Fellows counselor representative in coordinating all elements of the Honors Fellows student leadership program; mentoring a cohort of College Scholars students; and coordinating Honors Contracts requirements. Takes the lead in Honors Programs’ Message Center site and shares responsibilities in the updating of the Honors Programs website, social media accounts, and other communication channels; and takes charge, as needed, of Honors content-related technical update needs of UCLA’s Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) website. Works with entire Student Affairs Advisors team in group projects such as those related to College Honors Admissions and the annual College Honors Screening. Participates actively in all Honors events and engagements and in new projects and committees in line with UCLA Honors Programs’ revitalized mission.

Performs other duties assigned by the Manager for Administrative & Student Services and the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Education & Director of Honors Programs.
