Reports to: Program Manager

Compensation: $62,400 Annually

Status: 100%, Full-Time, Regular, Exempt

Probation: 180 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Center’s Development department is responsible for the fundraising to support the Center’s many programs and services that are not financially supported by government grants. The department raises nearly $16 million through individual gifts, private foundation grants, estate and legacy gifts as well as several fundraising events which include major event such as the annual Vanguard Awards Gala, Simply diVine, OUT Under the Stars film screenings and also AIDS/LifeCycle. The Development department also oversees opportunities for community engagement through Membership and the Center’s Volunteers Resources department.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Volunteer Resources Program Manager, and in collaboration with the Director of Community Engagement and department staff, the Volunteer Resources Associate supports the objectives and strategic initiatives of the Volunteer Resources program in support of organizational-wide departments and programs. This role serves as the primary facilitator of volunteer opportunities for the Center. The Associate works with staff and volunteers in the implementation of volunteer engagement opportunities. Works directly with volunteers, aiding in recruitment, placement, stewardship, and retention. Responsible for day-to-day administrative, departmental data entry and general office operations to ensure overall organizational sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Serve as the department point person for existing volunteers and staff;

2) Facilitate the recruitment and training of incoming volunteers;

3) Coordinate all aspects of in-house volunteer projects, including Center departments for project materials, room bookings, and scheduling;

4) Co-facilitate volunteer information sessions and trainings;

5) Coordinate with staff and departments on corporate and community engagement opportunities;

6) Support development of volunteer appreciation, recognition, incentives and retention activities, such as the annual Volunteer Appreciation Week social, Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Awards ceremony;

7) Supervise event volunteers at “signature” events and post-event support;

8) Volunteer stewardship and moves management; donor stewardship; support all recognition activities and manage stewardship inquiries;

9) Oversee administrative functions such as data entry, service hour collection, service opportunity communications, volunteer information collection, coordinating office purchases;

10) Supervise and report on current volunteer-run department projects and software;

11) Supports procurement of other collaborative opportunities with outside community resources (i.e., CAPP – Community Assistance Parking Program, Assistance League of Los Angeles, Community service program);

12) Maintain and respond to all external volunteer opportunities;

13) Other duties as assigned;

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1) Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people;

2) A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;

3) A minimum one year experience in staff or volunteer coordination, supervision or management, and/or community organizing;

4) Experience in a front office work environment;

5) Excellent customer service and superior interpersonal skills;

6) Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

7) Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team;

8) Superior computer skills and knowledge including MS Office Suite, word-processing, database operation, spreadsheets, and other software systems;

9) Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings;

10) Bilingual skills, a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred);

11) Access to reliable transportation and the ability to be insured;

12) Reliable transportation and the ability to obtain insurance;

13) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
