Position : 2nd Shift Roasting Assistant

Job Description : The 2nd Shift Roasting Assistant will work with the Roasting team to ensure the daily operational needs of the department are met with consistency.

Job Responsibilities

Assist Roasting Manager in receiving green coffee to meet daily production schedule.
Load and grind coffee according to specifications set forth by Head Roaster, Roasters and Production Manager.
Assist in the blending and weighing of roasted coffees while upholding quality and visual standards set forth by La Colombe Coffee.
Help track the inventory of green coffee, bags, and other items related to production.
Maintain a clean and presentable workspace
Help to fill roasting positions during vacations, sick leave, PTO, etc.

Maintenance:

Assist in the cleaning of roasting accessories (coffee bins, production materials, etc),
Aid in the upkeep of roasting equipment.
Perform daily maintenance as needed for optimum machine capability for both the main roasters (Diedrich).
Participate in occasional weekend extensive cleanings of roasting equipment.
Properly record and follow S.O.P. protocols as laid out by the Production/Roasting Manager.
Alert Production Manager and Head Roaster of mechanical errors as they occur.

Qualifications:

Interest in great quality coffee.
Able to show initiative and be adaptable to changing daily requirements
Reliability and flexibility to meet production and roasting demands.
Must work well under pressure and in a team environment.
Position requires the employee to stand, walk, sit, reach above shoulder level, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 80 pounds and work in an industrial setting
Must be able to work in hot temperatures due to the heat of the roaster
The candidate must be able to multitask and perform effectively with frequent and varied distractions in a noisy environment.
Forklift experience preferred but not required. Must be willing to learn within the first 2 weeks of employment.

*Please note this position runs from 2:30pm to 11:00pm*

Experience:

Beverage Production Occupations: 1 year (Preferred)
