Position Title: Accountants Payable and Human Resources Assistant (PART TIME–NON REMOTE)
Reports to: Director, Finance
Status: Support Staff (part-time 20-25 hours per week, non-exempt, hourly)
Position Summary:
The Accounts Payable and Human Resources Assistant provides a professional level of accounting assistance to the Director, Finance and serves as a reliable and cordial source of information about the church to staff, congregation and community.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assistance to Director: Provides accounts payable, payroll and accounting assistances to the Director, Finance and any other ministry area assigned in the future:
General Support

Process weekly voucher payment;
Prepares monthly bank reconciliations;
Administers petty cash fund including disbursement and reconciliation of cash;
Prepares monthly reports as needed;
Assists the Director, Finance in reporting, year-end closing, and annual audit;
Maintains accurate physical and digital files as necessary;

Payroll Processing

Provides 1099’s to outside vendors where appropriate;
Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll including enrolling and updating all employees in online payroll program, as well as all payroll deductions related to the Section 125 benefit plan;
Reconciles employee payroll contributions to general ledger for defined retirement contribution plan;
Reconciles online payroll system with general ledger.

Human Resource Support

Analyzes and reconcile monthly billing statements for payment of 403B employee contribution and match, as well as vouchers for health, dental, and life insurances paying particular attention to rates charged, type of coverage selected, additions/deletions of employees and their dependents based upon new hires, resignations, salary changes, etc.
Maintains appropriate records and preparations for annual Workers Compensation Audit.
Processes initial employee clearances and clearance renewals as outlined in the BMPC Child & Youth Protection Policy;
Directs employees in the completion of initial hire paperwork including I-9, W-4, Emergency Contact Forms, Direct Deposit Forms.

Administrative Office Team:

Attends all required administrative and department meetings with an engaged manner;
Assists in office administrative responsibilities including mailings, front desk support and volunteer appreciation opportunities as able;
Understands the weekly and annual rhythm of the liturgical and programmatic calendars;
Understands the organization of the staff and the church leadership;
Uses all available equipment and software appropriately, including all workroom and mailroom tools.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience in QuickBooks, payroll, accounts payable, non-profit organizations
Ability to spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour
