BASIC FUNCTION: The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of the wellness programs for St. Paul’s Manor to include a focus on the multiple dimensions of health (physical, spiritual, emotional, mental). This Coordinator will also assist with creating a holistic wellness platform for all St. Paul’s, working closely with coordinators at the McColl Health Center and at St. Paul’s Villa and Plaza (and any future buildings).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops programming for independent living residents that is broad based and focuses on enhancing the multiple dimensions of health.
Develops a cohesive strategy for wellness programming at the Manor and other St. Paul’s buildings, working closely with the coordinators at the other locations.
Provides programming for the residents that encourages residents to maximize the health and wellbeing of all residents to assist with maintaining independence for as long as possible..
Provides supervision, monitoring and control of any entertainers, speakers or program participants that may be brought into the facility. Ensures that entertainers, speakers or program participants are fully aware of the rules and regulations while being in a St. Paul’s facility and that their movement within the facility is limited.
Develops a method to implement programs within a designated budget allocated by the facility Administrator. Identifies other sources of revenue and grants to supplement the budget.
Communicates the wellness programming options using the available technology options to ensure access by all residents and submits event requests to dining services, housekeeping, and any other appropriate departments.
Maintains the facility decorations and decorates the facility for the holidays.
Designs and shares a monthly calendar of events
Visits each newly admitted resident within five days of admission to complete an assessment of their interests and abilities.
Attend monthly resident services meetings
Develops methods for effective utilization of community resources and coordinates activities with community resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess valid activities certificate or successfully complete one within 3 months of hire. Must have dependability, creativity, a sense of humor, enthusiasm, affection and patience; ability to organize; ability to teach, supervise, and orient; willingness to accept consultant direction and to assume responsibility. Must enjoy working with the elderly and have interest in and understanding in their needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree (AA.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years experience working in a wellness, social or recreational program. One year experience working in a resident activities program in an independent living facility preferred. Must enjoy working with seniors. Activity certification desired.
