Position : Aide to the Director of Security

Job Description : Overview: Performs a variety of clerical and administrative functions relative to the day-to-day operation of the Security Department. In conjunction with the Director and Associate Director, this position is responsible for the scheduling of shifts for full and part time staff, coordinating special events, and supporting the functions of the department.Responsibilities:Oversee, direct as needed, and provide scheduling for shift vacancies within the full and part time staff consisting of eight employees and up to 20 special event employees to insure complete and smooth work flow and job understanding.Understand and follow a chain of command system for supervisors and employees.Provide administrative support to the department and provide shift and work scheduling to insure continuous coverage.Meet with Director and Associate Director as needed to insure optimal departmental work flow.Coordinate Special Events with the Director and Associate Director and anyone providing special event services, including, but not included to others in any department on Campus, Rockwell Lake Lodge, The Kirby Center, Halter Shooting Sports or other areas as needed.Coordinate student scheduling with the Student Operations Manager and the Student Scheduling Manager.Reconcile parking tickets.Process parking appeals and coordinate ticket issues/appeals with the Dean of Men’s office.Produce and activate identification cards.Prepare paperwork/permits for street closings, parking needs, etc.Operate and understand fire alarm panel use.Is responsible to insure accurate communication to and from the Director, Associate Director, full and part time staff and students.Provide documentation about full and part time staff and student employees for both positive and negative performance.Schedule and coordinate performance evaluations with Director.Qualifications: QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree is preferred, plus two years of prior experience in a business office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job. Prior police, security, or military office experience preferred.Other SkillsAbility to work independentlyAbility to communicate both up and down the chain of commandAbility to have positive customer service interaction with all, especially students, faculty, visitors, staff and othersBe skilled and have experience with computer including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).Familiar with two-way radio & telephone communications.Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to address and handle or assign most requests for service and delegate or query supervision for assistance, as needed.*Physical Requirements*Ability to read, write, hear, speak, see and communicate effectively. Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, adding machine, computer equipment, DVD player, display monitors and the like. Position is largely sedentary. Occasional lifting of office supplies, booklets, etc. is necessary.*Personal Characteristics*The Security Department interacts with virtually every area of campus life. A clean, neat appearance of self and office environment with a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission, are essential.
