Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking detail-oriented Aircraft Technicians to join our H-47 Chinook and V-22 Osprey teams in Ridley Park, PA. These exciting opportunities will perform service, repairs, and overhauls of aircraft to ensure airworthiness of the world’s leading defense products.
The CH-47F is an advanced multi-mission helicopter for the U.S. Army and international defense forces. It contains a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) Cockpit and advanced cargo-handling capabilities that complement the aircraft’s mission performance and handling characteristics.
The V-22 Osprey is a joint service multirole combat aircraft utilizing tiltrotor technology to combine the vertical performance of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft. With its rotors in vertical position, it can take off, land and hover like a helicopter. Once airborne, it can convert to a turboprop airplane capable of high-speed, high-altitude flight. This combination results in global reach capabilities that allow the V-22 to fill an operational niche unlike any other aircraft.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:Perform service, repairs and overhauls of aircraft to ensure airworthinessBuild and install mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies for aircraftTest, develop tool harnesses, troubleshoot and repair installed electrical and radio systems using automatic checkout equipmentBuild major mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using assembly drawings, specifications, shop orders, and precision measuring instrumentsAssemble and/or install partial or complete mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, pneumatic, electrical systems, and components in airframes. Install, connect, and troubleshoot systems in aircraftPerform assembly operations; press and stake bearings and bushings, install and shim small gears, drill and ream holes, rig controls, and balance completed assembliesFabricate, swage, and install tubing, hoses, and master tube templates for production use; build temporary templates to check master contours, dimensions, and assembliesCompile operational sheets and bend allowance charts for master tube templatesInstall auto flight, communication, navigation, and interphone equipmentConduct functional inspections of all installed systemsDiagnose malfunctions, and perform adjustments and repairsPerform work in accordance with prints, specification and other specified documentsAdhere to Company standards of safety, workmanship, and good housekeeping practiceProvide instruction to employees designated to assist with the above duties
Export Control Requirements:
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This is an hourly position governed by the UAW Collective Bargaining agreement.
Required Qualifications:
At least one year of experience with aircraft systems installation
Preferred Qualifications:
1-3 years experience in defining manufacturing and assembly plans for machining and fabrication of parts, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
1-3 years experience with subassemblies.
Typical Education/ Experience:
High school diploma/GED and/or vocational/trade school training.
Experience requirement is a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the assembly of mechanical aircraft parts or equivalent. Requires the ability to read, write and follow verbal or written instructions
Other Relevant Information and Requirements:
Selected candidates must be able to work any shift, as assigned but will start off in 1st shift.
