Job Description : Area Manager – Texas area

Military Deli & Bakery Services is the largest operator of Deli/Bakery departments to U.S. Military Commissaries with 103 locations nationwide. We are currently seeking an Area Manager in the Dallas Metroplex area, to manage and oversee four Deli/Bakery operations. Sheppard AFB, Fort Worth, Goodfellow and Dyess AFB. The ideal candidate will reside in the Dallas Metroplex area but will also be available for extensive travel assignments to the other 3 bases as needed and occasionally nationally.

The chosen Area Manager will have excellent people management skills and a solid background in Food Service. Prior supermarket experience is preferred. A manager’s number one goal at MDBS is to provide great customer service, while training and supervising associates, and meeting assigned goals. This position offers excellent advancement opportunities for the right individual.
Work/life balance is important at MDBS. Although our departments are located in a grocery environment, our departments normally close in the early evening hours, and weekend work is normally kept to a minimum.
Great compensation package, depending on management experience. Salary range “mid-50’s”. This position also offers a Quarterly Incentive Bonus based on performance and company car. Our excellent benefits package includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage, at a cost of $80 per month for individual coverage. The chosen individual will be immediately eligible to begin participation in our voluntary 401 k Retirement Plan.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for overall operations of a Deli/Bakery department including coordinating operations with Government personnel who manage the entire store.
Assists and communicates with customers in a friendly, courteous, and prompt manner; receives and records special customer orders via the telephone or in the store.
Directs staff and participates in daily activities in the Deli/Bakery department, including ordering and receiving product, preparing products, maintaining displays, Updates Department with seasonal merchandising to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.
Attains budgeted sales, work hours and gross margin goals.
Responsible for the hiring, motivation, and retention of Deli/Bakery team members. Supervises, trains, and motivates associates in all activities, policies, and procedures. Oversees preparation of weekly work schedule to ensure adequate coverage and service level, while meeting budget.
Monitors, complies, and enforces government and MDBS policies and procedures.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to drive onto military bases as needed (mileage reimbursed) with good driving record. Travel to lower 48 stores require ability to rent an automobile if needed, and airplane travel.
