Summary/Objective
The Bartender is an Altstadt brand ambassador who supports the front-of-house by facilitating a next-level experience for our drinking-age customers. Bartenders are responsible for serving patrons at our bar and fulfilling beer and wine orders (no mixed bev) for the dining room, biergarten, tap room and pub. Monitoring the cash drawer at the bar and performing alcohol inventories at the end of each night to help in maintaining proper inventory levels. The jobholder consistently serves drinks to diners in a friendly, timely and professional manner, while adhering to TABC requirements and company policies around serving alcohol.
Essential Functions

1. Delivers a consistently high level of customer service to each client
2. Keeps bar area clean in accordance with the company’s guidelines as well as the requirements of the local health department
3. Maintains an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and be able to account for any and all discrepancies in the final drawer tally
4. Mixes all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined in the company manual to keep drink costs at a minimum
5. Develops an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar and in the dining room satisfied at all times
6. Checks identification of guests to ensure they are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages; refusing to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
7. Observes guests’ behavior once they have consumed alcoholic beverages, counting the number of drinks served, and offering a taxi if it appears as though the guest should not drive; asks a manager for help with disorderly customers as needed
8. Reports to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintains well-groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by company policy and in accordance with health and safety requirements
9. Serves takes food orders and serves food to guests who order food while seated at the bar
10. Cleans, restocks and sanitizes various areas of the restaurant as needed
Competencies
1. Technical Capacity- Must be able to use all job-related software, systems and tools (e.g. POS, cash register, etc); Must have a strong knowledge of mixology and of the types of beers we serve

Accuracy- Must be able to correctly remember and enter all guest orders; must be able to remember who ordered which items (no “calling out” orders);

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This role is mostly mobile, and the jobholder must be able to stand and walk around for their entire assigned shift. The jobholder is regularly required to bend, stoop, reach, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, push, talk, hear, speak, read, walk and stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls in repetitive motions. The employee occasionally lifts and carries tubs and cases weighing up to 75 pounds. The employee must frequently communicate with expediters and servers and read orders on tickets.
Mental Demands
The jobholder must be able to function well under pressure and must be able to remain calm to effectively deescalate upset customers. The employee must have an excellent memory to correctly execute guests’ orders. The jobholder must also be able to correctly perform basic math to make correct change with or without the use of a calculator (in case the system is down).
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, and the typical hours of work and days may vary, and the jobholder is required to work as scheduled by management. Overtime may be required from time to time at Management’s discretion.

1. No prior education or experience required
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Previous experience as a bartender, including mixology and POS experience
2. High school diploma or GED
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
2. Must be able to pass the Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or better
3. Must possess a State alcohol server license and food handler’s card
