Position : Billing Coordinator

Job Description : Performs duties as a Patient Care Coordinator with an emphasis on our Billing Department. Will float between administrative roles to assist with patient care and tasks related to our billing and coding.
Specific Billing Tasks
– Verify and interpret patient benefits.
– Calculate co-insurance, deductible.
– Read and interpret explanation of benefits.
– Reach out to insurance companies for claim resolution.
– Procedure Precertification, Preauthorization.
– Referral processing.
Patient Care Coordinator Role
Performs patient registration. Responsible for third party coverage verification and referral renewals. Ability to explain patient responsibility including insurance, sliding fee scale, Medicaid, and Medicare. Identifies opportunities for back billing of previous visits based on new insurance and forwards information to appropriate person. This position may also be assigned in the call center depending on the need in the clinic.
Position Goal
Provide patient care with utmost customer service, compassion, and integrity to patients/clients in a clinic setting.
Responsibilities
Obtains current patient information, including demographics and insurance, at check in and updates EMR.

Able to explain the use of Phreesia to all patients and encourages use of the patient portal for scheduling and payments.
Maintains cash drawer ensuring accuracy and security at all times.
Collects appropriate co-pays and co-insurance utilizing Phreesia during registration and/or exiting patient.
Patient exiting
Review the current day’s charges from the encounter with patient
Review account past-due balance (i.e., ROA, CIB, Bad debt)
Collection of payment and/or promissory agreements in accordance on all pay patients in accordance with policy
Process receipt for patient
Schedule patient return appointment as indicated
Closing
May process daily batch analysis, balancing charges to payments
Process deposit slip; balancing cash and checks
Delivers bank deposit to the Practice Administrator daily
Call Center
Responsible for answering phones and routing the lines, included but not limited to scheduling and confirming patient appointments using an electronic telephone software system and an electronic practice management system (Allscripts)
Performs patient registration.
Ability to explain patient responsibility including insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Identifies opportunities for back billing of previous visits based on new insurance and forwards information to appropriate person.
Properly performs appointment processing
Collects appropriate co-pays, co-insurance and sliding fee scale portions during registration and/or exiting patient.
Responsible for updating any financial and demographic information in the PM system.
Works referrals to assure current referrals are in place, particularly for new patient appointments.
Works return mail and updates demographics in PM.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent Preferred
One (1) year of Data Entry/Medical Office Experience Preferred
Strong Customer Relations Skills
Possesses willingness to accept orders and to perform repetitive tasks.
Loyal in matters relating to the office.
Has awareness of the need for discretion and keeping confident matters relating to the patients and their problems.

Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
