Job Description : MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee’s duties as a billing and collections specialist shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Answer incoming phone calls and assess the needs of the calling party,
Institute proper action to meet the needs.
2. Will verify and assign client account numbers according to Payer source and check for authorization.
3. Understand the implications of Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance rules and be able to explain them clearly to customers.
4. Ensure all billing and collections notes are enter in billing system for follow up.
5. Enter payer changes and notify co-workers of change.
6. Ensure posting in kept current each week.
7. Update posting log weekly.
8. Create a weekly collections report and update collection log weekly.
9. Ensure patients billing does not exceed billing time limit.
10. Appeal patient billing daily.
11. Assist management with operational requirements to maintain business compliance.
12. Maintain a positive upbeat and helpful attitude when interacting with customers, referral sources and fellow workers.
13. Refer customer complaints to proper authority.
14. Submit completed documentation within established time parameters.
15. Will have good computer skills knowledge with Microsoft Office and some type of billing software.
16. Will exhibit good interpersonal relationship skills, written and verbal communications.
17. Employee shall strictly adhere to all policies, procedures, protocols, and manuals adopted by the Company for the conduct of its employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires standing, sitting, talking and hearing. The employee is required to use reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. May be required to work sitting for long periods of time. May be required to use hands and arms for repetitive, long periods of time. May be required to lift up to 15lbs. without assistance.
WORK HOUR REQUIREMENTS
Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
· Full Time – 40 hours
· Occasional overtime
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma
Prefer from six months to 1-year experience in related field with at least 1-year higher-level college courses.
